I will add although I watched this for the first time when it was relatively new I haven’t found anything like it anywhere on the market internet great work from the creator.

I watched this years ago. Few will understand how incredible powerful the seam engine is. This is one of my favourite KZbin clips.

That's a pretty steep hill, as shown by the stone courses in the retaining walls, yet most of them are taking it in their stride at a very good pace, in top gear, and some drawing a fair load. They are still remarkable machines in performance as well as appearance; how they must have impressed the folk of the nineteenth century! Thank you.

These magnificent gorgeous steam tractors puts on a show as these machines chuffing and chugging. They may not be the fastest tractors but they’re really strong and powerful to pull heavy loads. 2:09 come along come along. They have the magnificent sounds and the smell from the smoke stacks.

I would hate to have to do some work with those smooth wheeled tractors in the rain or snow or anywhere there was not a dry very firm road or work area to travel on. I am sure that the owners or operators figures out some way to safely move the tractors around in inclement weather. I have seen farm tractors that were about the same vintage with wheels that had huge, angled steel grousers or lugs as some people call them. The farm tractors got pretty good traction that way. But they would have torn up the roadway for any other vehicle.

Can someone tell me - max. torque 0 rpm? I can't otherwise explain how steam engines nearly come to a halt on hills but then never do (unless the boiler is empty (out of steam)).
@1258-Eckhart4 жыл бұрын
Just by way of rough comparison: the Scammell: ca. 280 ft-lb of torque at 1500 rpm; the Burrell: ca. 4.000 ft-lb of torque at 0 rpm.

What is extraordinary, is that on the final attempt, after the Scammell & tractor, then the 2 trucks had failed, the Scammell didn't even join in with the traction engine. The steam engine out pulled both trucks all on its own, & didn't need any additional help.
