Steam to the Rescue - Trailer Recovery at the Drusilla's Inn Steam Up 2012

The Situation
A Pickfords's trailer, loaded with a Priestman dragline, becomes grounded in the entrance to the inn.
The towing vehicle, a Scammell, is unable to move the stranded load and requires assistance.
Attempt 1
A relatively small tractor is acquired and attached to the front of the Scammell.
With both the Scammell and tractor pulling, the trailer does not move.
Attempt 2
The next attempt sees the tractor removed and one of Cook's haulage trucks attached...
... but still no movement from the trailer.
Attempt 3
The third attempt makes use of Burrell showmans engine No. 3938 Quo Vadis, which was generating in the car park...

I watched this years ago. Few will understand how incredible powerful the seam engine is. This is one of my favourite KZbin clips.

Nice work! Just shows you how much power steam has! It's the torgue that's the thing behind it. Can't beat it for raw power!

I will add although I watched this for the first time when it was relatively new I haven’t found anything like it anywhere on the market internet great work from the creator.

What is extraordinary, is that on the final attempt, after the Scammell & tractor, then the 2 trucks had failed, the Scammell didn't even join in with the traction engine. The steam engine out pulled both trucks all on its own, & didn't need any additional help.

Just by way of rough comparison: the Scammell: ca. 280 ft-lb of torque at 1500 rpm; the Burrell: ca. 4.000 ft-lb of torque at 0 rpm.

They've got that much torque they can shift anything! It made it look so easy as well, looks like it wasn't even trying :)
