This video to understand it better one must have done a lot of sravana and manana practice. It's really really packed with lots of information to be absorbed in one take. Infact this video is a complete book of more than 300 pages about Ego. Thank you swami Tadatmananda ❤❤❤❤❤

God has always answered my prayers or inquiries, but sometimes not right away. One example, I grew up catholic. As a kid, I'd always ask what happens to the priests when they are old? Who will take care of them cause they aren't married? Yea I was a weird kid 😀 As a nurse I worked in a friary and cared for the priests. Another example, my sons entire 24 years of life is all about his rare disease alagille. God has showed me the way every step of the way in order to help him, medically and educationally, in finding support. Everything. I am in constant communication. I cannot wait to meet who God really is. He knows everything about me, I talk with him constantly. I'm born christian, and I refer to him as male. My friend is born hindu, and refers to God as she. I tell my grandkids when asked, no one really knows until we die about life after death, cause no one came back, or remembers coming back. I agree with you from another video in which people are different in how we address god, or whoever, eg jesus, ganeesh, allah, mary, budha, etc. All i could say is that if atheists are right, we simply cease to exist, that really hurts me to the core. I pray that thats not true.

I find your dismissive attitude towards psychedelics... rather unenlightened.

He's not saying that they will always have a bad outcome, just that the ego deaths produced by psychedelics aren't as replicable and consistent as spiritual practice. You can't expect a psychedelic to reliably produce an ego death since many people who take psychedelics often do miss out on spiritual and healing experiences, particularly during so-called bad trips, and can even experience psychosis and depressive episodes after said bad trips. This is not the case from spiritual practice.

I agree, the selfsame in all existence is consciousness it's SELF, but still the non self needs food, clothes, shelter and such and to deny that you're only fooling yourself. I know the ego is about interpretation, of how we perceive things, we definitely live in a world that furnishes our needs and though this is witnessed by our consciousness and yes that should be seen as the forefront, our bodies and minds as all living things certainly play a role in what's observed.

Intrigued by the question at 0:12:00 which cites Svetasvatara 5.8 and 5.9, I looked up those mantras. My understanding of these mantras confirms Swamiji’s observation that these mantras cannot be understood as they are meant to be understood by looking at them in isolation from the rest of the Upanishad in which they are presented. For those who may be interested, I reproduce the English translation of these mantras as well as excerpts from the commentary on them by Swami Tejomayananda. _Svetasvatara 5.8: Of the size of a thumb and bright like the sun, associated with wishful thinking and individuality, and also with the qualities of the intellect, the mind and the body, the jiva is seen as if different, like the tip of a goad (pointed rod)_ _Svetasvatara 5.9: The jiva, the size of the tip of a hair imagined to be divided into a hundredth of its hundredth part, is capable of infinity and is to be known_ _Excerpted commentary: It was earlier said (in Svetasvatara 3.3) that God/Truth is seated in the heart-space and is the size of the thumb. He is of the nature of pure Consciousness and illumines the mind and the senses. Now it is said that the individual being is also the size of the thumb and is self-shining like the sun. How can two entities of the same size occupy the same space simultaneously? It means that they are essentially one and one is only superimposed on the other ……… However, being essentially infinite, it (the individual) can by giving up its finitude realize its infinite Self. The size of the individual is initially said to be of the size of a thumb and later the tip of a needle and finally the thousandth part of a hair tip. As the mind tries to conceive its size, the mind and the individuality disappears in the realization of the infinite Self_ Also, regarding verses 15.7 and 15.8 of the Bhagavad Gita which were cited, I view those verses as Sri Krishna’s teaching for those of us who have a seeming need to appear solely as part of maya. Later in that chapter, in verses 15.18 and 15.19, Sri Krishna directs his teaching to those of us with a seeming need to be free of maya altogether. So, I would echo Swamiji’s observation that the scriptures cater to the seeming differences among us. Thus, we are free to take from the scriptures what we believe we need.

Thank you swamiji. You answered one of the questions that I had. I wanted to ask you in person (but the satsang was cancelled and I returned back to Seattle). I used to be very self driven in my career and I can see clearly that the drive is slowing down. I can see that I am spending more time in the spritual path, but it isn't being as driven as the other. So in effect I am getting lazier. Your answer is very clear! I can see I am not all alone here!

Sense of 'I' is called 'Ego', mind's false conception. When the mind realizes it's mistake, 'Sat Chit Ananda' alone remains.

I like your videos, but I must say that you are absolutely misrepresenting Christianity and Judaism. Neither the Tanak or the Christian Bible say that you should have blind faith or not use logic. This is coming from an ex Christian.

Swami ji, sat sat pranam. Please guide me if I am on right path... when I look within, i 'see' there is awareness (eternal, peaceful) AND there are experiences ( changing, either pleasant or unpleasant)...I sit with this observation. After 5 to 10 minutes, the intensity of experience comes down drastically (ignorable) and there is only boundariless, peaceful awareness. In day to day life I see only awareness & experience of walking, talking, eating etc.
@silverly0
@silverly0 6 сағат бұрын
You can't see awareness (i'll explain). Awareness is seeing. So once you have found your true identity (consciousness), then all observations and experiences are just that. They are not happening to YOU, but happening to your egoic self. When you are aware of intense experiences, they are the attachments to the egoic self (which claims to be your identity "I") however, as these experiences pass (and they always do), you return back to what your true identity is. The practice we do is to help moving from the egoic self and its misidentification to the true identity. This practice allows us to achieve a healthy relationship to the ego as it knows it is not in control (which calms it down). The ego is like a guard dog trying to protect you, but can take over your identity. (If you know the hulk, its like that)

Whenever someone asks me to say something about myself I go totally blank. I request them to give me a questionnaire instead, usually verbal and while answering it I am like who is this that I am talking about. People hence think that I am a dunce. 😅😂😂😂😂😂

Generally speaking suffering is the result of limitations imposed on ourselves by ourselves. The problem is that limitations are as a rule not being aware of. And that makes suffering a kind of endless and hopeless process which seems to be impossible to stop at all. Thanks Swamiji for your suggestive talk!

When ALL beliefs and concepts that you 'think' exist i.e. time/space, religions (orange robes) and so-called words to describe IT etc. and you have stilled the so-called thoughts to silence, then there is left 'you' AS Consciousness. The infinite Absolute is WHAT 'you' are (no who). Consciousness is Everything everywhere ALL-ways. IT is the infinite in the microcosm and the macrocosm. IT is WHAT IT is, and 'you' are THAT. To experience IT, is to Know Self AS IT. The infinite expanse of Be-ing. Everything that you think exists was created by 'you' AS consciousness from the 'never beginning'. Hello Creator(s)!
