@Phoenixette2 күн бұрын
They would but the issue is that the bill to fix it from a shop is more than what insurance values the car as. That’s at least how I understand it, I might be wrong. They would total out the car and give me what they value the car at. This was the case with our old Prius but they gave less than what we could sell the car for

@@Phoenixette I have had a 116i in a similar situation, where I got the agreed upon value of hte car, and bought it back for a 10th of the price, worked on it and got it registered again. Imma stick to mine. My friends camry has a 500 mile range and was telling me to switch. Well my round trip for work is about 10 miles and let's say i drive 20 miles a day. I get free lvl 1 charging at work and i would have a total of 320 mile range. after 10 days i would have driven 200 miles but charging the car i would have still have the 320 mile range but if my friend did the same commute he would be down to a 300 mile range. I didnt have to spend money to drive those 200 miles while my friend did spend money. After 30 days he would have to fill up and spend 40 dollars and get back to his 500 mile range and i'll still be fairly close to my original 320 mile range. In one year i spent only 57 dollars to drive my clarity. I love this car!

@angelomandato94393 күн бұрын
Do you bave full / "comprehensive" car insurance? Also you should have gotten a police report before moving (and touching) the vehicle. Cool car, If you can't get covered by car insurance I would get the top fixed by a BMW expert (not a dealer), see what parts that expert can fimd at salvage yards and only get what ecnomicallg makes sense repaired. Car insurance may total out your car and issue a salvage title if the repairs are higher than the car is worth BTW.
@Phoenixette3 күн бұрын
Looking back at it, you’re 100% right on that. I think I just saw the damage and just freaked out right before calling the police. I do have full coverage on the car but the thing is that they’d probably (more likely than not) total out the car and the issue is that if we buy it back with a salvage title, it’d have to go through a lot of rigorous inspection that it currently doesn’t have to from what I’ve heard. We used to have a salvage van and that’s what I remember from that fiasco
@angelomandato94393 күн бұрын
Right, may not make sense to report to insurance plus your car Insurance from the company you work with will go up with your next car, or if you keep this car you may not get comp coverage with it being a salvaged title. Bummer.

I enjoy watching your channel because I, like you, recently (about a year ago) acquired a manual z3 3.0. If you're not thinking of a manual swap, grab the rear subframe so that you can have the camber and toe kits welded in. That plastic nut that holds the tray that covers access to the spare tire securing bolt is also NLA, so grab that. I wonder whether grabbing the door cards would help. So many parts are becoming unavailable

Couple of questions on what you have on the Z: 1. What aftermarket muffler do you have on? 2. What's that cupholder in between the seats, I tried using the vent ones but they were no good.
@PhoenixetteАй бұрын
I have a Thrush Turbo Muffler and the cup holders are a generic cup holder online and then the previous owner 3D printed a bracket to keep it like that and put a small rubber mat under it
@finnedcape5845Ай бұрын
@@Phoenixette Thanks for the reply! That muffler sounds good, way better than the stock. Would you still keep it if this was your daily driver? And the cup-holder idea seems solid, but is it practical or do they knock against your elbows while driving?
@PhoenixetteАй бұрын
I'd probably keep it. If I can get my idle to stay still, It doesn't really make a difference in driving experience until you get into higher speeds and I rarely ever has that cup holder ever gotten in the way. I don't hit my elbows on it or anything like that.

Have had a used 2018 Clarity for a little over a week now and watched many you tube videos about it. I'm super happy that my commuting will be all electric. I am changing how I'm driving to maximize efficiency so now I keep it at 65 mph on the brief highway stretch of my commute. I think there is a broader benefit to this in terms of overall reduced carbon foot print. It would be super if everyone slowed down no matter what kind of car their driving! We should all use less energy in our lives. Cars like the Clarity help move us in that direction. Keeping it at 65 mph on long trips can offset the need to stop for gas (given the small tank) as often. One commenter said he does this and it doesn't make the trip take longer because there are fewer stops. I don't like the adaptive assist/lane assist but it's my first car with this feature and it's possible I'll find a reason to like it at some point. For now, I have the ACC off and am just using basic cruise control. I like the interior, find the seats comfortable and the car handles well. I love the fact that the back seats fold down and I'll be able to fit my skis in there! Given the front wheel drive, I will likely get snow tires in winter which will reduce EV range.
@PhoenixetteАй бұрын
Congrats on the Clarity. I will say, the environmental impact from the car can be hit or miss since it did use a bit of material to make the battery and some to make the engine but the 50+ mpg is also something shouldn’t be disregarded. The 65 mpg is fair. The night I got my speeding ticket, I lost a significant amount of range to the point where I had to refuel (I had half a tank remaining but a lot of it went away in about 50ish miles - not sure if that’s the exact number since it’s been 6 months since). But I think maintaining the 65, especially when everyone else is doing something like 75, can be more dangerous than anything and, in those cases, doesn’t seem worth it imo

I'm about to buy a december 2000 2.0L Z3 with about 240.000km in oxford green. Really nice wheels, no scratches dents on the car, clear headlights, all rust issues treated, sealed and coated (all very well documented as well), well kept interior, perfect seats and new roof all for 7500€. Is the price alright, or is it too high? Also, the rear wheels seem a little off, the top is more inwards than the front ones... he says it is due to the AC Schnitzer suspension and it was 3D scanned and it drives perfectly. Is it a good deal?
@PhoenixetteАй бұрын
So, I can’t speak for European markets all too much. But after converting to American, it would be a 2.0L Z3 with about 149k miles for $8100 give or take. The US market, to the best of my knowledge, didn’t get a 2.0L but if that was a 1.9L Z3 with that many miles wouldn’t be worth it. My ‘98 1.9 was $6200 with 114k miles for context. TLDR: it depends on your country’s market but if it was the US, with a similar engine to the 2.0L, wouldn’t be worth it in my opinion

Many on here have mentioned fixing it yourself but if you are not sure how an oil filter works that likely isn't going to happen. These cars very much are not for everyone and unfortunately when they get some years on them they are practically given away.......due to costs like this and people think they got a bargain but they simply got a never ending trail of bills. These pieces of fine engineering are built to drive until the coverage runs out on them then place them in the bin. Even with fixing them on your own the cost of parts alone is many times what most are purchasing them for. Just sad.
