The "Uphill ice skating" is probably referring to Blade: Trinity movie where Whistler says something to blade about trying to ice skate uphill because blade was working alone and fighting all these vampires. Could be that, not sure. Interestingly the team of vampire hunters in that movie were also known as the nightstalkers!

When I played it, it felt exactly like Orchis where you can take a beating but getting stuck by missing team members kits after the 2nd or 3rd wave drop.

In the second node you need to open with the Mephstio basic like in Arena so you can take 50% health from that Gladiator.
