I don't think I have heard a more convincing Mephistopheles! His playing is so incredibly rich in nuance, it makes for an almost cinematic listening experience. He absolutely nailed the character of this piece in my opinion. It might be due to the recording setup or my own audio, but I feel like the treble sounds really weak at times. I somehow really enjoy it though. The bass is overpowering in the finale, but it makes all the virtuosities in the right hand that come before it seem a lot more effortless.

7:25 I love the way he doesn't overdo the crescendo in the right hand here, and instead puts the emphasis on the left hand, hard to pull off technically. I find it makes the sound less shimmering and glittery, but much more sinister and in the spirit of a mischievous Mephisto.

I have listened to many performances of this wonderful piece by Liszt, but I consider this renditon to be by far the most heartfelt and rich in interpretative intensity. Superlative pianist Ingolf Wunder!

With this excellent video with it's closeups I see that this piece is not actually that difficult. It lays really well for any well trained pianist with three hands

Hello! Just want to say your musical journey has inspired and interested me very much and I’m fascinated by your almost beyond belief level of artistry. You and Daniil Trifonov were my favourite competitors in the Chopin competition. Your interpretations are always incredible, innovative and passionate. Thank you for becoming a pianist (One of the most brilliant)

Among many marvels, the feeling for spinning sounds freely out of the piano, no banging, no forcing; all sounds round, beautiful, and powerful. It's quite something.

While Chopin is, of course far more technically demanding than Mozart, I feel like the way a pianist plays Mozart can be really telling about the way they feel about and approach music and their understanding of it. Many pianists don't seem to take Mozart seriously and play it without ANY emotion turning the pieces into soulless, bland practice material. A world-class pianist, however, can turn Mozart into something truly unique and beautiful, full of emotion and playfulness. Similar to Zimerman, Ingolf manages to do exactly that. Hats off to Ingolf, once again! Truly showing how great of a pianist he really is and that he's even more than 'just' one of the absolute best Chopin players!

Actually Chopin is easier to play, yes, even technically. Mozart may not require large hands but the technical demands cannot be separated from the musical ones and these make it technically very difficult. Also, one need not MAKE something unique out of Mozart. It is a much better music than Chopin and speaks for itself. And, it is harder to allow its depth and beauty to be heard... yes, technically and musically harder.

This make me remember the first time that I fell in love with Chopin's music. It has been 2 years since I felt that and started playing piano. I might have more hard working because I start my journey very late (at 15 years old and have 1 and a half year left for university preparation), but you have inspired me with this Nocturne. I will remember that it's not too late. Thank you very much!😊

(Edit: I just noticed that I wrote all of this in English despite both of us being German haha. Well... I hope I managed to express my feelings either way.) I am absolutely stunned every single time you play a note. Listening to you play a piece of music, after hearing some other concert pianist playing the same piece, feels as if I'm listening to a completely different instrument. The amount of dynamic and emotion you get out of a piano is simply unmatched. Even listening to the "big" names like Lang Lang, Yundi, Kissin, Barenboim, etc., none manage to achieve this kind of sound. It is my sincere belief, that you are the most talented and skilled pianist of the past decade. Especially your interpretation of Chopin's works is far beyond anybody else's. In a way, I feel like you are to Chopin what Glenn Gould was to Bach. I used to practice piano when I was 12 (on a cheap Digital Piano, and without a teacher), but essentially gave up at 14. Ever since I've had brief periods of time (maybe 1 to 2 months) where I'd play a little, but nothing more. Now, at the age of 25, your performances have been the kind of inspiration that I always needed to push me over the edge and finally give it another serious go. I've been practicing for one month now and finally bought a new Digital Piano (this time a more expensive one at 2000€.... it might not be anywhere near a grand piano, but unfortunately, it's the absolute most I could afford). In this single month, I've made more progress than in the 12 years prior. And that is in no small part thanks to you!!! You have reignited my love for the piano in a way that I never thought possible. Thank you, Ingolf! Both for the beautiful, stunning music you've gifted us, but also for making me feel a sense of passion that I thought I had long lost.

Dear maestro Wunder: I had the chance to heard you in my Country (México) and i'v been a great fan of your work, your performance since then. Right now and after i watched this, i feel very proud to dedicate my life to music teaching and performing specially to classical music. im not a virtuoso pianist as you dear maestro, but i think i can make a good change in people's life with music and specially with kids. I knew about the benefits that good music can give us, but i really didn't knew about all the damage of bad music can produce, it's very interesting everything you talked about in this conference. I admire you deeply as a musician, but much more as a human being. Thank you!
