Well done guys. Steiner and ventrac are not super common over here. I got the pleasure of seeing one that was made right around the changeover and I don't even remember what brand it was. I am in the splitter shipping process and came across another channel where he has created some tapped and zirked bolts for the carrier rollers under the deck and I think one for the roller on the top of the deck. I think you can buy them from him or send your parts and he will machine them. You might want to check that out. I think if I decide to buy a SS I will go that route right out of the gate to make sure the lubrication issue is handled.

Pine Sap is a Highly flammable substance!!! It's common knowledge they make TURPENTINE out of distilled Pine Sap! It was/is a huge industry anywhere there was Pine. (esp. in the South and Wisconsin). You can literally use Pine Sap to start a fire and Native Americans kept balls of it for that purpose. Pine Needles are highly flammable because they have the same compounds. (I can't believe you deal w wood?) No, Maple doesn't have these compounds so we make Maple syrup out of it. Not all trees are equal which is why the wood and saps have different purposes. You have to dry pine a long time is the downside.
@BuildALotAcres4 күн бұрын
Turpentine is made out of Pine Resin not Pine sap. Lots of people interchangeably use the terms sap, pitch, and resin. Though they are different, then there’s Pine tar, which is commonly used to make soap. I discussed all of this in part 2. Most Pine species only take around 6-12 months to fully season which is much quicker than most hardwoods.
@myradioon4 күн бұрын
@@BuildALotAcres Thanks for the info. Turpentine is made from procuring Pine Sap which contains and is the vehicle for Pine Resin. The Myth probably comes from people who tried to burn it uncured/too quick. Pine Sap is highly flammable because it contains the resin and most just used other woods to avoid any problems. Older (stone) chimneys also probably collected flammable byproducts easier as well. I have had blow backs using pine when I had to. Thanks for the info.

I have 2 monster mauls, one was my grandpas and has the old solid handle and the other was dads with a rubber cushion between the handle and the pipe thats welded to the head. grandpas is older and lighter and thats what I split all my wood with. most big pieces I rip part way with a saw then split them, this is the best way for tough wood like elm. its faster than dragging out a splitter and trying to get the honda engine running then rolling every piece to the splitter. some day i might try a fiskars if I have the extra cash to buy one

I had the same problem with my Maytag washer a few months ago. There was no error code, but it was filling up so slowly that the washer would turn off, thinking it wasn’t getting water. The cold water side was completely blocked. I was told that the cold side is usually the problem because most of the sediment from the hot water side ends up in the water heater.

All your ideas are wonderful, but none of them will get my EPA stove to start without smoking us out. The problem is, I can not get my chimney to warm up and draft at all. It is an outside chimney, but I have carefully insulated it with rock wool. It is close to 40 feet high, and once the stove is started it drafts great, but to get it going is impossible when it's really cold, and that is when we need it most. We're doing everything right, but we're frustrated that nobody is talking about contraptions to warm up those cold chimneys.
@BuildALotAcres13 күн бұрын
@@SternDrive You want very small fires in the back of the stove with wood shavings or small kindling only. No newspaper or cardboard 👍 If you have a cleanout door, you could also try opening it to help suck air and get the draft going. Once it starts smoking at the cleanout close it

@@BuildALotAcres Nope. I tried putting 4 candles in it for an hour to warm the flue. Fail. Last time I ran a hot plate red hot with the door closed for one hour. Started the stove with a small fire and i smoked the house up and set off all the central alarms screaming. I suffered smoke inhalation taking my kindling out and throwing it in the garden. I then went shopping to escape the smoke, and save my ears from the screaming smoke alarms. I need a blower system to warm up the flue. Not much info on such a contraption.
