Very informative and as you say there are different methods depending on plumbing and pool design. My inground pool does not use a main drain anymore, which isn't that uncommon even with new installs now. I have a vinyl lined pool and use a safety loop loc cover which I love after using those p.i.t.a. water bags and winter covers. I live in a high water table area, and those hydrostatic valves for the main drain can often cause issues. I often look for tips and tricks with the pool installers to see different ways of closing the pool. I'm always on my own, so use my shop vac with the kreepy hose I plug into the chlorinator and bring the hose beside me beside my return jets. I also only drain just below the skimmer so the returns are still under water for reasons you mentioned. I blow the lines out enough that it's only at the jet, and then stuff foam rope in and use an expansion plug to close off the jets. I was intrigues by those duck bill plugs to perhaps try as well. Almost 40 years with the pool, so nice to see the ways others use for closing too. I would really recommend those safety covers. Over 20 years with mine so far and still works great. Takes about 15 minutes to take the cover off for opening with no more slimy water bags to empty and scrub as well as the winter cover. 😋

Hello, thank you for your videos. I’ve got a couple of questions for winterizing my inground pool. 1. For blowing out the pipe lines can I use a small air compressor? If yes on which holes of the Hayward super pump should I connect my air compressor hose? The hole on the front or side hole? 2. During the blowout which mode should I locate the filter handle? 3. My suction side is included two lines which come from the pool to one side of a valve and I don’t know by closing the valve which line will be closed the skimmer line or main drain? How can I figure out which one is the main drain which one is the skimmer line? Is it really matter to winterize both lines? Thanks for your time

I have a similar Hayward sand about 8 yrs old and this year I noticed loosing water after a clean cycle on the sand, after noticed the water draining in the pool. @@FixItWithMe The spas Ive closed, I empty it and blow the lines out. Then shop vac the water out. If theres a blower on it, I would guess its just like putting a mighty vac on it. Just dont run the spa blower for a long time. I also put antifreeze in every jet and suction. Then I cover it with a tarp. Not just right across, I put the tarp right into the spa. Then I put wood across to suppor it from all the snow we get.

@@VIPPoolsandSpas Sundance hot tub's 11A error code indicates that the water temperature has risen above the spa's safety limits and has triggered the spa's "Watchdog" program. Some possible causes of the Watchdog error include: Bad capacitors Capacitors on the circuit board can sometimes bulge, which can cause the Watchdog error. Thats a good one. Do you know the builder of that pool? Some pools are custom and I would only know whats, what if I was right there blowing the lines myself. When we run into custom pools, we blow out everything and everywhere. Make sure every jet is blown out. Any jets or suctions on the bottom or side of a pool that we can not reach are blown out like a main drain would be. Blow down, shut off valve and block the water from coming up to the frost line.
