I think sister Jahlana makes a great point. All of us, in Christ, should be careful, what we allow in our minds. That being said, my viewpoint is different, in some ways. I am 66 years young now, and have really loved music, since I was 11. I am a musician and composer, myself. I do definitely set boundaries, on what music I listen to, and what music to avoid. I appreciate good lyrics, but I am , and have always been, someone who focuses more , on the musical form of songs, than the lyrics. And I love lots of instrumental music, of all kinds. I listen to lots of both Christian and secular music. There is almost always a dilemma, for me. Well crafted, interesting music, that may have satanic influences behind it, of course will leave me with mixed feelings, about the music. But godly, wholesome, Christian music, that’s uplifting, but is not that well composed, or adventurous, as music, leaves me with mixed feelings as well. And the controversy, as to who is really a sincere Christian musical artist, or someone who is just in religious show business !! Back in the late 1980’s, I got a bad vibration from Amy Grant’s music. Though some of my brothers and sisters in Christ, insisted she was a sincere woman of God. Now more recently, Amy has shown her true colors. Having her niece get “married “ in a lesbian ceremony, at Amy’s house. So there you go. Those of you brothers and sisters of mine, who want to listen to all Christian music only, that is your right. But I guarantee you, maybe half of the people you think are solid Christian music artists, are actually into freemasonry, or some other, form of witchcraft. The only way to be dead on, 100% absolutely positive to be free from demonic influences in music, is- NOT TO LISTEN TO ANY MUSIC AT ALL !!! Really. But those of us , who love music, but God first, should not have to go to that extreme. I am grounded in my faith, and willing to die for it, if necessary. All music I love, relaxes me. And truth , is revealed, in different ways. It’s in a punk rock song, that something is brought to light, about corruption in government. Or food being allowed to rot in a warehouse, to keep food prices up. You won’t hear that, on a Christian pop record. Brothers and sisters. Enjoy all kinds of music. Sure, be careful, but not fanatically so. Religious fanaticism, is just the flip side of the same coin. The other side, being a spiritual slacker. God bless you all.
