Trainspotting 2 was an absolute joyride for me. And just with the original, this one brings out different reactions from folks depending on their age, with the events resonating most with those who were living the events portrayed in the '96 original, not giving a damn about the future and living in the moment. And there was Renton's updated "Choose Life" speech. Hearing what he said hit me as hard as a freight train. So many missed opportunities, mistakes, taking things for granted. To only jump in a time machine and fix them. The characters no longer have the fleeting nature of youth, just only trying to survive the day to day tribulations while haunted by the ghosts. All in all, a superb film.

I don't get why people get mad because they essentially "rotoscoped" The skill it took to get the van Gogh look is still impressive and the skill to paint in general

Disagree. Feel as though your heart has been given away. I don't think this movie thinks it's smart or particularly funny. We don't have to paint in pure colors.

I really like the book, and I have never seen this film. But from what I gather this movie bares almost no resemblance to the novel other than the title and the lead charactwr having Tourette's syndrome. It's odd: apparently Ed Norton loved the novel so much that he bought the rights to the adaptation. And then created a movie that isn't like the book at all.

So. I’m guessing you’re one of those reviewers that simply enjoys trashing movies or art. Let’s discuss the whole “plane thing”. That actually happened😂 Dick Best was known for doing such actions were he would kill the fuel, or the engine altogether and land the plane. Pilots still do these actions today to practice. And judging by your review, you only watched the trailer. Doolittle got over 15 minutes of screen time. From taking off the USS Hornet, to bombing Tokyo, to ditching in China. Surviving the ditching, meeting up with a local Chinese militia group before seeking safety. It also discusses that these militia groups helped recover the other 79 raiders. Apparently you missed almost all of that. You also missed the whole point: the point was to show what caused Midway. And they showed the corresponding events that led both parties to midway. Without the Doolittle raid, you would be left wondering why the Japanese would send a massive naval force with little landing forces to attack an island. What sense does that make. Pearl Harbor is necessary to show why the characters were chosen. Who is the intel folks, well now we know. Why is Nimitz in charge and not Kimmel? Now we know. All these events are necessary to show why midway happened the way it did. Anyone with Grade 1 level history would be able to figure that out. But some folks would rather back up and shit on anything they can. Midway 2019 was about as good of a history movie for naval action as it’s ever going to get. They built a 1:25 scale replica of the USS Enterprise to shoot on. They can’t build all the ships. Or production would be in the trillions. I think your level of common sense and practicality leaves a fuck ton to be desired and your level of grasping rudimentary level concepts is entirely absent.

Okk 8 years later I watched the movie for the first time to today lmao Ngl I liked this film it was cute😭😭😭 but I can understand your message exactly what where there trying to make this film about…lol like yeah are problems with nature vs society but also I think they try to Disney this film to but also with the charming romantic man Christy…agian some things felt random but I understand what they were doing and being able to film the movie on the other side of the world I can understand its raw point it made at the end…

I couldn’t get into this but I’m going to give it another try. I’ve watched all of the Viking & medieval shows on Netflix and I went into this movie expecting a good storyline, a lot of action and amazing war scenes. I literally keep falling asleep every time I turn it on but I’m going to give it real try. Thanks for the review! 💕

i liked this movie. better than most of the 💩 hollywood has been pushing out in the last decade. yes, the pace is slow, but i don't mind. the characters and writing were interesting enough during the slow moments. i yearn for good dialogue and plot twists over action, so i give this movie a 7/10.

I just rewatched it for the first time since it came out and surprisingly really enjoyed it the second time! I remember being super confused and disappointed with the direction it took as the trailer had sold me on a very different movie. I only planned to watch the first half again but ended up really drawn in and was able to read into more of the nuances the second time. I found the juxtaposition of the American over consumption along side the poor people who do all the hard jobs really interesting. The cult part at the end made a lot more sense to me the second time too. A second watch made me completely change my mind on this film :)

I really loved this film! Interesting info on the commentary - thanks for referencing that. I can't square the details you give of the commentary with the film though. To me, the film was clearly about the hypocrisy of Christianity (& perhaps all organised religions). One Eye is clearly Odin, and the violence of the Christians exposes their inherent contradiction.

spoiler ahead: one eye is unstoppable force. he kills everyone, who has go in fight with him. so at the end he gives up and die but in the same scene he has left the world, when he has finished his stone-tower. what do u think? was this odin on a journey?

WOW, I can't believe like this It is super horrible! It was another preachy movie from Hollywood. It was not funny at all. If you like the preachy speeches at the Oscars or the Golden Globes and you hate yourself you might like Downsizing.

Branagh just butchered the character of Poirot and doesn’t even understand his introspective nature. This version had no consistency and it’s just a woke money grab made by an egotistical narcissist. However my favourite version is the 2010 version because it’s very engaging and truer to the story and the ending is very powerful.

I haven't watched this movie since it came out, and it's always stuck out in my mind. The reason being, it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Almost nothing happens over the course of the whole movie, and it's only redeeming quality is that it's got some good cinematography. But beyond that, good God this movie is boring. It's only an hour and a half long, but you quite literally spend upwards of thirty minutes watching the cast sit around on a boat and then aimlessly walk around in a forest. They barely say a word to each other the whole time. Awful movie.

There were so many things in this movie that just made zero sense and were so imlausible. I get it..its an action/thriller type movie but still. i expected alot better with that cast. I actually like the main actor but this is was not a great performance from anyone. the main villian was beyond plain but he also has no repercussions for threatening this mans wife and daughter. like he was just forgotten about.

Fantastic movie. It's not a Spielberg so if that's the over romanticized movie you're looking for then give this a miss. This raw and dark, doesn't attempt to fully develop the characters and the plot, leaving a lot to the view to fill in. It's much much much better than anything Hollywood can produce. Very highly recommended!!!!

I really enjoyed this film. I don't think every film needs to answer everything and tie up every loose end. I found the impact of it's big statements fun anyway, and it gave me tons to think about for hours after watching it. I totally loved most of the performances, and I really feel in love with the love story and the final message about acts of kindness in an apparently irredeemable world.
