How close are you to a Tesla Service center? I'm sure the price would be different if you lived far away from one. My closest is 2 a hour drive....I'm a little worried how much that would cost me for the patched tire.

cheapest/best route would be for Tesla to supply a spare tire with their vehicles like every other maker.

I had the same happen. The Tesla van actually contained all the tech needed to patch my tire that a bolt had punctured and I did not need to get a new tire! A$115 repair vs a new Tesla tire $495. It all got fixed in my own driveway!

I have a detail person that comes to my house too but charges me $75 to clean my car. You have a good deal at $45! About charging, I have a charger in my garage. Instead of charging overnight before I get dressed I’ll go out in my night clothes and plug it in and by the time I’m ready it’s charged. It’s rarely run down too low. another great video! thank you for bringing us along. have you ever had to wait a long time for a super charger to be open up?
@taylordencermedia5 күн бұрын
Thanks for the support, glad you enjoyed! And nope, the only time I've had to wait for a supercharger is the one I use frequently close to home and the most I've ever had to wait is like two minutes. Never had to wait on my road trips before. But people typically aren't there very long so spots open up regularly.

You registration fee is, at most, $175 additional for an EV. The bigger cost is the value of the vehicle when purchased. If you bought yours a year ago, the price was likely between $55,000 and $60,000. (Depending on options, etc.) Comparing that to a Civic which is about half the price, you will see the higher registration fees. They’re supposed to go down each year (value of the vehicle), but it is an insignificant amount in the scheme of things. Related to the $175 (max), I think it’s a typical bogus tax that the California legislature came up with by pulling things out of their behinds. The rationale is that EVs are not paying a gasoline tax and are therefore not contributing to road maintenance/repairs. Though there is validity in that, the “one fee fits all” is where the logic breaks down. In my case, I have just over 1,000 miles over the last year on my Y. So, very little wear and tear on the roads from me. Comparing that to your 13,000+ (I think that is what you said.), you’re actually ahead of the game assuming a 40 MPG car. Gas tax for that mileage would be ~$185 over the last year which puts you at a $10 savings from a gas tax perspective. In my case, I’ve lost ~$162 over the last year. This is, of course, assuming that 13,000 miles is solely in CA.
@taylordencermedia5 күн бұрын
@@jbhorner thanks for this detailed breakdown. I do think it’s silly that they charge more based on the value of the car, simply because my car would affect the roads in the same way at 1 yr old vs 5yrs old. I understand that since I’m not paying gas tax then that would make sense. But still just seems stupidly high! Anyway…what can ya do 🤷🏻♀️

This is pretty cool for those people that are not self sufficient. I’m sure they will charge you way more than it’s worth but if it gets you up and running. 🫡 I just jack these cars up pull the wheel and drive it down to a tire shop and swap it out in my apartment parking lot.
@taylordencermedia11 күн бұрын
There are many reasons why one is unable to handle this themselves or maybe some people just straight up don’t want to. When people have money they have no problem spending it on convenience.
