Why would you ever call Davy Crockett infamous? He's a true American hero!

I was 10 years old when the first episode aired in 1954. I had never heard of Davy Crockett or the Alamo. Well, I recently turned 80! I still have both 80-card sets of Davy Crocket cards (orange back & green back), I have the Dell comic books, the DVD collection of Crockett, including the river boat pirates and the keelboat race. I've visited the Alamo twice, read every thing I can get my hands re: Crockett and the Alamo. Oh, and in 1981 I took First Place in a black powder shooting match using my custom made flintlock long rifle. Looks like Ol' Betsy. I've taken a dozen deer and other prizes with this rifle.

We boomers who grew up in the 50s caught the first wave. Just as families were acquiring TVs this was what we saw and it was bigger than Elvis for those of us who weren't yet teenagers.

This is pretty incredible. I'm one of the many thousands of kids who were caught up in the Walt Disney Davy Crockett series. This gave me goosebumps. Good times and good memories. Thanks for your hard work on this post.

The only thing I don’t like is what Disney has become 😮😢when there was a time , when Disney stood for something, so sad what has become 😮😢

When I was growing up in the 1960's we all "played" Davy Crockett. I had a moonshine cap and a real wood toy long rifle. In our young minds, there was just nothing you could aspire to beyond Davy's spirit and courage. Times have changed so much I could weep. I'm old but I still have the replica flintlock my Grandmother bought me.

That's supposed to be "coonskin cap". I hate "auto correct".

One of my fondest childhood memories, even though I grew up in L.A. in the 1970s. I must've listened to the record a hundred times. I remember asking my grandfather -- a retired doctor from Brooklyn -- if he "hunted in the woods with a coonskin cap" as a child. He looked at me and said, "Whaddya, stupid?"

Forgetting for the moment all the wonderful nostalgia, this Disney production extolled and promoted all that was great about America. No tearing down the great traditions that set this country apart from so many other countries. No credence given to bizarre notions and twisted sick behavior embraced by the leftist anarchists of today. No, just good old plain Patriotic values being promoted and showcased to the young of our nation. Series like this had a lasting and positive effect on our youth growing up and undoubtedly many of whom went on to achieve great things incorporating many of these wonderful principles into their daily lives. Oh, how we need a Walt Disney today! Instead, we are left miscreants, kooks, losers, leftists, and all around freaks ever trying to destroy this great country. Oh, and let's not forget our current President who has left the border wide open so 30 million illegals can invade and destroy our country. Wake up America!

Snowman, your heart is in the right spot but there is a huge error in the written narration. The 47 sec mark reads that Davy became the "infamous American hero", meaning having a reputation of the worst kind; notoriously evil. Just sayin'. That said, thanks for posting this labor of love.

Oh believe me I know (now) haha! If there was a way to fix it without deleting the whole video, I would! Trust me! :) How I originally meant it to be was that he would never be forgotten, somehow I got my definitions mixed up and Voilà here we are, lol! I am glad you liked the video otherwise!

This song was written by George Bruns and Thomas Blackburn. Hayes' version of the song hit the top of the Billboard charts in 1955. Hayes would later star as Doug Williams in the TV serial Days of Our Lives.

I’m not sure the majority of people who comment here realize he was an actual frontiersman, congressman, fought for the Indians, killed a bear, etc. he led a storied life! Walt Disney brought Davy Crockett life to the screen for us back in the 50’s!! Davy Crockett died at the Battle of the Alamo at 49 yrs of age.
