@@TheSnowmanvocals it was some great shows....just a shame they didn't do a weekly show of Davey Crockett I'm sure they could have made some stories over the years between the two movies Disney produced. I mean after all they made Davey Crockett and the River pirates where he meets Mike Fink..which takes place long before what was seen in Davey Crockett King of the Wild Fronter.....years later another studio made a weekly Daneil Boone tv show with Fess Parker.

Thanks. This is tremendous work. In 1955 our family did not have a TV set. My dad was opposed to television. Instead of watching TV we did our homework and then played board games or cards. All the other kids were talking about the Disney series and I felt left out. Finally about 1958 or '59 we got a TV set. My dad became a big TV viewer too. I can remember we had a TV for the 1960 presidential election.

When I was growing up in the 1960's we all "played" Davy Crockett. I had a moonshine cap and a real wood toy long rifle. Well, that's on me lol. It was a bad call to use that word, I thought at the time it was a positive remark, only to see some other comments pointing out that it meant the opposite. So I own my mistake, and if I could edit that one little section out without deleting the video and reuploading it, I would. But most folks, I think know that I meant it as a positive, based on what I put in the description and that I put it up as a tribute to a man I consider a personal hero of mine. But I do appreciate you commenting and pointing out my error, I may edit the description and add a disclaimer, recognizing my mistake.

Did I??? I scoured the web trying to find as many verses that I could, could have sworn I had gotten all pertaining to the Indian Fighter portion. Do you remember how the verse goes?

@@TheSnowmanvocalsAs @Lon6inu5 mentioned, the line "So, he shoulders his rifle & off he goes" can replace "Jackson's the general they sent to fight the foes" from the cobbled together film version of the preceding verse ("In 1813, the Creeks uprose, adding Redskin arrows to the country's woes..."), because there's another verse that mentions the future president that was also ommitted when the episodes were cut up to make the movie... "Andy Jackson is our general's name His regular soldiers we'll put to shame Those Redskin varmints us volunteers'll tame 'Cause we got the guns with the surefire aim Davy! Davy Crockett! The Champion of us all" I know this is 2 years overdue (and these verses, much like the massacre of the word "Indian" ["In'jun"], might get demonitized due to certain words not being politically correct in today's ultra sensitive world), but I was referring to... "Headed back to war from the old home place But Redstick was leadin' a merry chase Fightin' & a-burnin' at a devil's pace South through the swamps Of the Florida trace Davy! Davy Crockett! Trackin' the Redskins down" There are also bits from the "Congress" & "At The Alamo" sections also omitted from the Disney film version of the song (although some of the missing verses are on the album version of the story, which is narrated by Buddy Ebsen as Georgie Russell, despite everyone dying at the end as historical accounts dictate, regardless). For example, after Davy & his friends give their lives at the siege of The Alamo, most versions don't include the lines "Storybooks tell they were all cut low, but the truth of it is, this jest ain't so. Their spirits will live & their legends grow, as long as we 'Remember The Alamo'. Davy! Davy Crockett! And Crockett's company. Davy! Davy Crockett! Fightin' for liberty!" used by the Disney film, they instead replace it with... "His land is biggest & his land is best From grassy pain, to the mountain crest He's ahead of us all, meeting the test Following his legend into the West Davy! Davy Crockett! King of the Wild Frontier!" (2X)

I’m not sure the majority of people who comment here realize he was an actual frontiersman, congressman, fought for the Indians, killed a bear, etc. he led a storied life! Walt Disney brought Davy Crockett life to the screen for us back in the 50’s!! Davy Crockett died at the Battle of the Alamo at 49 yrs of age.
