If you don't mind me saying You should use it as YOUR ANTHEM coupled with John's "SMALL TOWN" everyone will LOVE Melloncamp doing THIS !!! TRUST Me !!! (at the END at 2:30 when Kenny "kicks IT IN" and John's Band adds LIFE and JOY and Bruce's SIGNATURE Sound !!)

wow, an artist, rendition of another artists work, in complete bravura virtuosity, heartfelt & meaningful, not an interpretation, nor imitation, just a meaningful & heartfelt rendition.

1:48 The man sitting behind the First Lady gets it. This was so powerfully performed. Sometimes an artist is so phenomenal with their delivery of a truly riveting song, that it literally makes you sit at the edge of your seat & hang on every word.

Caroline was my neighbor walking distance in Massachusetts. She funded much of Farm Aid and has moved no to the Armenian Tree Project with great resforesting Armenia after the pogroms, earthqakes, and other decimating tragediesCaroline cares and her message should not be lost to memory.

Hurts so good. Art/music that can make you feel other people's pain is as important art that just makes you feel good, and a lot harder to pull off. John restored that quality to the song (and for some people there he made it clear for the first time). That was one of the most powerful and moving performances I've ever seen.

ron Chad that’s Kenny Aronoff. He was the drummer in Mellencamp’s band for like 25 years. Now he’s basically the drummer for hire for any major award show.

This was probably one of the first times many in the crowd had ever actually heard or listened to the words. Not the rock anthem they always thought it was but the true meaning behind the song. Bruce plays the slower version at shows now.
@nightsketcher
@nightsketcher 4 жыл бұрын
I'd listened and heard the words before but never felt them like that. It looked like Bruce appreciated what was happening. And it was depressing to hear so many people clapping with relief and smiling with the fun of it when it switched to the familiar rock anthem. But John brought them back to earth. Very effective.

Love Mellecamp but do not like this version. As he gets older he gets "tamer". His strength as he gets older is his song writing. He has gone from an excellent song writer to an all time great. Performance wise he is oast his prime.

Different for sure, but certainly not bad. And it's always good to see Kenny Aronoff. Oh, and I wanted to hear "I'm a kool rockin' daddy in the U.S.A.". Can't help but wonder what Bruce thought, but what the hell, Dave Brubeck was diggin' it.
