No worries my friend. Even though I'm back in my home province - work still keeps me busy. This summer has been so incredibly busy with regards to environmental and geotechnical work. It's great that I'm busy because it's giving me an opportunity to save money for a trip that I plan on taking next year with my wife but it doesn't leave me much free time which is why I haven't been able to game a lot and even enjoy some of my hobbies. We got to work to survive but work should hopefully slow down in the fall and then I can start enjoying my life a little bit.

I know about the jumps, I never did it myself but my friend Gary actually did. Personally, I don’t have the patience for that kind of stuff, I didn’t even bother with the lightning strike thing in Final Fantasy 10 either. I think your wife has been having you move from game to game because she wants to break your habit.😂
@TheCompletionist
@TheCompletionist 2 ай бұрын
Every games has their patience limit and that is completely understandable. My wife has been trying to break me out of that habit for a long time. If I haven't broke out of that habit now I probably never will. I just came across 5 games that she really wanted to see the outcome in, and a good husband knows when to listen to her wife. Even though I have final fantasy 10 completed and permanently retired, it wasn't the 200 hundred lightning strikes that gave me the most grief, it was that stupid chocobo race that tidus had to get 0.00 on the stupid timer, and it was so hard not to get hit by those damn paper plane birds. My trick with the lightning was to only dodge 10 at a time, pause the game, take a short break to get my eyes to reset, and then do another 10 while using the item that stops random enemy encounters.

what’s funny is wired procon actually has slightly more input lag than wireless despite how counterintuitive that might sound.
@TheCompletionist
@TheCompletionist 2 ай бұрын
I don't really understand the logistics with regards to why that would be the case. Initially when I was going for the 100 jumps on the switch version of the game, I was still having trouble with it so I did some research about it and a lot of people said that plugging the controller in would help with the timing. It seems like I inadverently made the correct choice just using the controller wirelessly.
@JEANS__
@JEANS__ 2 ай бұрын
@@TheCompletionist i’m guessing they said that without evidence because logic might conclude that would be the case + probably backed up by their personal experience snd confirmation bias that it worked for them. but the competitive smash ultimate community has done actual research into it with full-on devices. and wired is 1-2 frames more than wireless typically. as for the reason why, probably because it was designed as a wireless first and the wire is a method of conversion, not the other way around. yep you had the better method after all :)

Unfortunately it's something I got to get completed especially since I already put over 200 hours into the game so far. Jenny, in all honesty with how busy you are these days Super Mario Rpg is a great pick up and play game and it's not too much of a time sink. Once you do get the game beaten I highly recommend you give some of the post game content a try especially the tougher versions of select bosses through the game. I'm just grateful you found time out of your day to listen to me ramble on for about 30 minutes, that will always mean the world to me.

I'll be honest, this game never stuck with me, I tried playing it several times and I could never bring myself to get past the early sections, yet I managed to beat both Paper Mario and Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. I don't know why this is the case though, It's just one of those weird situations where I can't pinpoint the actual reason why. Anything where you have to do timing things for long periods of time is bound to be a nightmare. The fact that you talk about how hard these things are to do but end up doing it anyway is insane, your persistance is insane. Highly edited stuff may bring about some self-gratification but not much else. I don't really think you need it.

Teddy, thanks for taking time to respond. Not worth sacrificing that much time for such a menial thing when you have many other games you could be playing.

Hey, I just found your channel today! I've also never played a single Fire Emblem game, but really just because, they seem to be tough to find and buy, older titles, like for the Gamecube and I would imagine the DS (although I could be wrong about the DS one/s), are incredibly expensive, and I'm an "original hardware" kind of gamer, but I am slowly adapting to flash cartridges, ODEs, and even software types of "mods" like CFW or ones that can be flashed onto PS1 and PS2 memory cards and allows games to be booted from SSD hard drives, etc. Granted, I've been into video games since Dec. 1993, I got my GC late in it's lifespan, for Christmas 2005, and I just never looked into the FE games until just within the last 5 years or so. But, I've also never played a single Pokemon game either, so... I guess I'm just more into what niche or "gem" games I remember from the SNES and PS1 eras, like Brain Lord, Robotrek, Jade Coccoon and Arc The Lad; I'm also behind on RPGs of any sub-genre for the PS2 and PS3 eras.

I totally feel your wife in regards to not wanting to play Second Story R, having just beaten the original game for the third time on Universe difficulty the year Star Ocean The Second Story R came out, I was burned out of Star Ocean 2. I also got to watch a friend of mine sctream it so I saw the changes, great for a newcommer but for me, it's just not enough to make me want to put down £40.00 on a game I already played before 3 times just to play it again for the 4th time but without the pre-rendered backgrounds I loved from the original and with only quality of life improvements and a few minor additions to look forward to. I was content with the original and quite frankly I just wasn't buying into the hype that Second Story R got on release which was unbelievably insane, I kept far away from it for that reason. I did play the demo of the game for 44 minutes and dropped it because I was bored retracing the same steps again for the 4th time, I even skipped the opening segment which usually takes forever (thank god they added that feature). The only reason I would ever go back to Star Ocean The Second Story R is to beat Gabriel on universe (or chaos since that's the highest difficulty now) difficulty with the limiter off without bloody armor. Not sure how much different that would be from earth difficulty on the original since I did beat him with the limiter off without bloody armor on earth difficulty on the original PS1 game but on Universe mode I only managed to beat him with the limiter on. If I were to go back to Second Story R, I would only have that 1 thing left to do and to be honest, the thought of it kinda scares me, that and well... I don't feel up to it right now. I also have to bear in mind that so far I have replayed every single Star Ocean game at least once except for Star Ocean Blue Sphere and Star Ocean Till The End Of Time which I only beat once. Blue Sphere I can't see myself replaying since the first time round is enough, there's no real extra stuff to get from replaying it. Star Ocean 3... well I never got the battle trophies I guess and I never even attempted the bonus dungeon. I refuse to go back to Second Story R till I beat Star Ocean 3 again and I won't be replaying Star Ocean 3 any time soon. All I will say is this: Star Ocean The Divine Force dethroned Second Story as my favorite game in the series and because of that and the fact that The Last Hope no longer has my favorite combat system in the series, my perception of the entire series has changed completely. Part of me feels that everyone has forgotten Divine Force and that Second Story R overshadows it now. The thing is, as much as I still love Second Story, I am able to take the nostalgia glasses off and ackowledge that even with the additions from the remake, it has flaws, not in regards to the improvements made, I'm talking in regards to the experience as a whole. Combat has improved sure but even when I watched my friend play, I noticed that the combat is still very archaic by today's standards, especially compared to Divine Force. Item Creation may still be the best in the series sure but the story is still poorly paced and nothing can fix that unfortunately (disk 1 focuses too much on side events while disk 2 feels rushed, leaving me wanting more). These were flaws I acknowledged back in the day and still enjoyed the game despite them because it was still a very fun game and the good outweighed the bad but to me, it's not the best anymore but it's still a game I cherish nonetheless. I'm just ready to put it down and retire it so that I can move on to other games but the challenge of doing gabriel on the highest difficulty with the limiter off without bloody armor is still on my mind. Maybe someday but I'm not a completionist like you so I'm not going out of my way to do it just for the sake of doing everything.

Well one thing you can always count on. Anytime I make a video - Terry will always make a damn novel of a comment. I don't mind though, I like reading Terry's angry thoughts. Listen Terry, I can understand why you don't need to play star ocean 2 again. You've played it so many times, that your not really going to get much more out of the game even if you do play it again. The quality of life upgrades in the second story r does make the game playable for people getting into the series for the first time but for seasoned veterans of star ocean 2 - they really don't do enough new stuff to make the game feel like a brand new experience. Once I get the ps5 version completed - I may delve into the older versions of star ocean 2 to get a taste of how truly difficult some of the bosses can be, so I can feel the pain my wife felt when she beat those games for the first time. I do own the divine force, but i still need to get around playing it. I did watch my wife play a few hours of divine force but she gave it up because she didn't really like the battle system that much and got incredibly frustrated with it, so she put it down permanently so I doubt she'll ever play it again, but I'll get around to playing it eventually.

@@TheCompletionist Star Ocean 6's combat takes a bit of getting used to but once you get it down it's actually quite impressive. The beginning section is a bit tricky though. The game could have explained things a little better like if you hold down the VA button and don't release it you can guard attacks which is useful against enemies that you can't blindside. You kinda have to throw all your knowledge of previous entries (especially Star Ocean 4) out of the window because of how differently the combat works. Blindsides are actually rather easy to pull off you just turn mid VA dash when enemies are facing you, the difficult part is building up the VA gauge for an effective blindside that stund enemies for longer periods of time and you can do so with perfect dodges and simply attacking the enemy (though doing so is slower by comparison). The VA gauge also dictates how much you can remain guarded too so having as much of it as possible is handy. There are a lot of things going on but they all work together well. Also they added the AP system from Valkyrie Profile 2 so you can't just spam the strongest moves as it will cost more AP. Replenishing AP is pretty quick though so it's only like a chain combo recovery time after your finishing blow, it's a lot less annoying than Star Ocean 3's fury system.

Just living to the duties of being the best husband and provider I can be. The photo of the cat is still kicking around. My wife will never get rid of that photo. When my wife got her new computer - we had to change the entire set up of the computer room and that included a new computer desk as well. The original computer desk in all my older videos has been around since my wife and i have been together so we were overdue for a brand new computer and a brand new computer desk.

I had "Star Ocean Till The End of Time" for years but never played it. I fired it up in my PS2 but didn't go on the full journey. I can't recall if that was the year I played several RPG's. Now that I am getting older I am slowing down and focusing on the journey with gaming.

Just remember my friend - don't rush the games you play. There is no time limit, play what you want to play when you have the free time to do so. Gaming is so much better as a natural journey then feeling obligated and forcing yourself to do it. @@GameFreak4Ever

No worries Jeff. You know why I don't want to talk about it publicly - it's not worth attracting the attention for it. On a private message your more than welcome to get my honest opinion about it. Your friendship is always stellar and I couldn't have an issue with you if I tried. Besides your much better at rustling jimmies on your worse day than me on my best day.

It is. I'm just happy we managed to get a 25 year mortgage paid off in a little over 17 years. It came with one hell of a sacrifice but I'm happy to say that stage of my life is over and it's time to focus on saving for retirement.
