There are a lot of people on ebay who do overpay for comics. They must have a lot of storage space and not value their money as much as I do. It is getting harder to find decent prices on lots of comics and find deals, time invested in searching for deals cannot be recouped either.

Might work for some collections -- but for example what if someone has a complete run of X-Men from #100 to #300 or a sweet bronze age run of Amazing Spiderman -- for purposes of this example all perfectly maintained at 9.0 or above ? I'd argue in this case that the seller should try to sell these valuable runs on it's own. The other I don't understand with your method if you're just going to pay for the few highest keys (and then give the seller peanuts for the remainder of his/her collection) -- why doesn't the seller just cherry pick his/her collection and sell the keys separately?

hey brother, im looking to buy wire racks to store my 60-70 short boxes instead of lining my basement floor around the edges...lol would u mind sharing what shelving unit you have? is it 15.75 depth? ive found some on amazon that i will probably go with but the depth is 15.75" and boxes are 16". im fairly sure that the 1/4 inch wont hurt but i want to ask someone who uses them before i committ $450 for 4 shelves that are 62"w x 72"h x 15.75"d. looks like i can get 28 boxes per shelf if i dont use the very top but id like to ask someone who uses shelves if he regrets it. i thought about buying folding tables and lining the basement walls with tables but that seems like a giant waste of space but the boxes would be waist level which is the biggest pro.

70% FMV for big keys, 50% fmv for minor keys, filler at 0.25 cents to 0.60 cents a book depending on quality (read popularity) of the series and condition of the fillers.

What’s the difference between regular/silver vs thick bags?
@Nerdsonearth

Thick are unnecessary in my opinion, although I do have Mylar for pricier books. I use regular Silver bags and boards for everything.

Is this 1966 comic book worth buying for $30 if it has “cc” written on it in pencil? It’s small about 1/3” each letter.

@Nerdsonearth
@Nerdsonearth 9 ай бұрын
They aren’t terribly valuable overall, although some miniseries are if they are complete. The bigger thing is a core of old school Star Wars fans really remember this era fondly, especially because these stories aren’t canon anymore after Disney bought Lucasfilm.

Here is the exact shelf: amzn.to/48rMf3Q They perfectly hold 4 short boxes side-by-side. They also come in various heights, so you can get a 5 or 3-shelf version, just make sure you get this exact width. The only downside is you'll want to add a layer of foam core down on the shelves so they slide more smoothly. I got my foam core at Dollar Tree.

I remember a time when restoration wasnt s big deal in comic book collecting. When collectors had books they were redtored and it never bothered anyone thst they were. For me, and i realize im an old guy with old school view, living in a modern world but, professionally restored books are fine.

It's pretty crazy the monetary difference between a blue and green label, all because some kid put a piece of scotch tape on his comic book 50 years ago because that's what all kids did at the time.

Congrads! I was ten days shy of my 18th birthday. When Rom#1 hit the local newsstands/ LCBS and corner drug stores. I'm sure you heard already. About a month ago Marvel reaquired the rights to at least reprint the Rom series, all his few guest appearances as well as the Micronauts. Marvel just reprinted Rom Spaceknight #1. But in Jan of 2024 their releasing Vol #1's of both the Micronauts. And Rom will have issues #1-#29 and the Powerman/IF #73 first guest star appearance of ROM. Rom only had three guest appearances in other titles. Powerman/IF #73, Marvel Two in One #99 the last real team up of that series. And in Incredible Hulk #296. His head only appeared on the covers. Of West Coast Avengers Mini-Series #1 and Avengers #221 for the new Avengers line up. X-Men #187 & #188 had the Dire Wraiths vs a depowered Storm, and Colossus. I believe in #188 their was a illusion or vision of ROM. But he never appeared any where else. Rom ran 75 issues with four Annuals too.

As a kid back then, they were bought to be read and was considered disposable entertainment. They were not bought, bagged and immediately sent off for grading. That is why they are so valuable. and a lot of these modern books will never be.

I am a slide the board in part way, then slide comic in until they line up, then together. This way I can pay close attention to the comic sliding in while holding the flap being leveraged with the board. Basically use the board as a leader and leverage the bag opening.

Regarding the proper pronunciation of Ka-Zar's name, just turn to his first appearance in X-Men #10. Right there on the splash page is a caption box provided by Stan that reads "Pronounced: Kay-Sar" But you're right; I hear most folks pronounce his name with a "Z" sound, not an "S" sound. Anyway, thanks for another wonderful batch of Marvel comics!!

I remember these - heck I bought a ton of these when I was a kid. They came out in late 80s and early 90s and I remember them not doing to great for DC who I think only had the rights for two or three years and let them lapse. I had bought a few and when they were no longer dc bought the whore runs in my stores quarter bins alongside the blue beetle, booster gold and infinity inc series almost complete. Man I miss the days like that as it was great being able to read whole runs of a character in one go. I think that is what made me into a serious DC fan over time alongside Marvel just not having great writing in the 90s and then One More Day making me say thanks but no thanks you have lost me as a customer. Great finds there though I am betting they are better than I remember them being I lost all of mine when I was homeless for a few years back in my early 20s and have never had a chance to pick them up again - easoeckally since the best con for finding great back issues for cheap Wondercon left Northern California. Something to try to hunt down when I can
