That collector sounds a lot like me. I started around 1970 and completed most of my Marvel title runs by the time I was 16. The difference is I didn't cut anything out of any of my books, I bagged them in PVC bags immediately after carefully reading them (later in 4 mil Mylar), and I can't imagine selling even one book under any circumstance.

That’s amazing. You were a trendsetter, very few people were bagging back then! Congrats on your collection, so good.

All were great but those Journey into mystery and Doom were so gold

I think someone Else also mentioned the Journey into Mystery and commented that they are getting harder to find. So I’m thrilled to have gotten them.

Buying from the original collector? This is going to be good. Ooh, Fantastic Four number 2?!? So cool. Wow, what great comics. The best part for me is that you got them from the original collector. That’d be my favorite type of collection to buy. It’s got the books and the nostalgia to boot.
@Nerdsonearth2 жыл бұрын
I wish I had infinity money and could’ve gotten them all! That was actually the only FF 2 I’ve ever seen in the wild, so I’m thrilled to have gotten it. But those handful of big boys killed my budget for other big books, although I almost pulled the trigger on a Daredevil 1.

From what I heard, back in the day it took a year for Marvel to learn how the comics sold, that is why they cancelled the X-Men Neil Adams run thinking it'd sell as bad as the previous ones. Once the numbers came they were surprised, I have no idea why they didn't continue the title immediately though . Great collection by the way, love it!
@Nerdsonearth Жыл бұрын
Imagine if Adams had stayed with X-Men and never went to Batman, X-Men never went to reprints, which meant no Claremont at 94…. That’s some Kang alternative timeline stuff right there!

Great picks. FF 2 on a deal like that is incredible. I don't know if it's just me, but Journey into Mystery books seem to be some of the scarcest of the silver age Marvel titles to find these days.
@Nerdsonearth2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it is just you. I’m doing pretty good with Strange Tales, Tales of Suspense, and Tales to Astonish but I’m finding fewer Journey into Mystery. I’m not sure why that is.

Really good video! Enjoyed all of it! What a classic bunch of Silver Age beauties! Blue chip all the way around! Any idea the age of the collector who you bought these from? Is he holding on to anything?

No, he was ready to let everything go. Cleaned house and downsized.
