I could be wrong… but Mission Breakouts successful retheme was thanks to Joe Rhode. Since he was already down the path to retirement, they put the cart in front of the horse with the campus to capture his genius. Any comments?

We've to Disney/universal recently. Honestly don't get the appeal at all. 40-3 hour wait times for what? A quick 3-5 minute ride? The only way I could think it's worth it, is if you go in a completely random time of the year when kids are in school.... And even then. Idk.

To me it’s on the same level as splash for the most part maybe a little worse but I feel most videos are extremely exaggerated as someone who has been on splash on both coasts multiple times and on Tiana’s on both coasts multiple times

For the name Avengers Campus. I guess Disney was going with like a University for Future Heroes to joined the Avengers. Like the Web Slingers inside looks like a school with the lockers and how they explain the building is like a science building or engineering lab or something like that. Don’t know why they thought of that instead of the Avengers Compound or an Avengers Outpost on Wakanda, or something like that!

Who is Disney aiming to please? I highly doubt it is older men. Just sayin. And all the comments complaining that it is a ceo designing it to sell a brand. Yes, they planned to make money...is that a surprise? Honestly, disney can wrap crap with tin foil, sell it and people will buy just bc it is disney. Sometimes, it is annoying to hear fans who complain bc those to own the rights are focusing on the nonfans in order include more viewers. I have heard itnerviews with directors and producers of Marvel say that the last thing they want is to do the exact same thing as the comics. Maybe you get bored of these ride if you go there often but for people who save up for years just to go once every 10 years, this is enough I think.

Disney also had zero reason to have Rogers the musical be a limited run?? The Hyperion is like literally a functioning Broadway theater sitting empty. Rumors are they’re tearing it down but why?? Rogers could’ve run forever and tied into the land….

Some of the props and decoration from Bugs Life rides could have been repurposed for Ant-man related rides. An Ant-man themed miniaturized ride sounds fun. Like that scene in Civil War of him going into Iron Man's suit was very fun. They could have done a ride like that. A Falcon/Captain America fake glider ride (doesn't need to be thrilling) flying across different locals. Riders would strap onto a wing pack (great for photo op) and the ride use the robot arms mechanic hidden behind the wings to move the rider around. Scenery would be projected onto a dome around the rider. This would probably be a more immersive use of the robot arms Iron Man ride that feels like just a factory tour.

I agree with you completely on this. I was just there yesterday. I’ve been a passholder for over ten years, and I remember when they were building Avengers Campus. I was looking forward to such a promising land, but all we got was a superhero-themed bar and one ride, which is passingly acceptable in my opinion, which is the Spider-Man ride. Besides that? Avengers Campus is useless, and they fumbled such a good idea. I personally feel like underwhelming is an understatement to what the reveal of Averagers Campus was. Yet again this is all my opinion though.

Was just there last Saturday and my son and I had the same sentiments. We don’t understand what’s the point of that huge building with the jet on it, that literally is for nothing but occasionally black panther walks out and looks upon the crowd, or they’ll have that goofy action show you mentioned. That building is taking up too much space for nothing. This place needs the Guardians ride from Epcot and if they feel it’s too much Guardians, re-theme it but that ride is EPIC.

To build both a Marvel land and a Star Wars land at the Disneyland Resort and not put a themed roller coaster in *either* land is absurd. It shows they literally do not understand the IPs and psychographics of the fandoms they are working with.

Should rename Marvel’s Campus, to the Marvel’s Command Center, and theme it to be an Avengers HQ. Or make it a Boot Camp for guest to become Avengers themselves, imagine going through training to become an Avengers?! Both kids and adults would love to go and experience that! Imagine the memories guests would experience, and make. It could be a timeless experience for guest if done right, many ppl would come back to experience that again. A Marvel theme park/area would kill if done right! The reason why Marvel’s Campus sucks because it lacks a strong theme/vision, it doesn’t help that the park’s design and attraction feels half a-. All more reason attractions like these need a strong central vision/theme, and passionate and creativity to fuel its design, guest will feel that.

This is all speculation, but I feel like DCA's decision to remove the Dr. Strange show was partially driven by anti-union sentiments. Last summer, Disneyland's character and parade performers officially unionized (forming the AEA,) thus receiving higher wages and other benefits. Cast members I've spoken to think Disney's been undermining them by limiting character interactions in the park. First there were reduced Disney Princess storytime hours, then less live music/dancing, thinned out parades, and now this. Dr. Strange might have been part of AGVA, another union specifically for variety actors with niche skills, but it's important to remember that AGVA FIRMLY stood alongside the AEA during their unionization efforts. That definitely did not bode well with Disney higher-ups. It's especially ironic because Avengers Campus is wholly reliant on character actors in its current state. Even though you (understandably!) don't like meet and greets, you acknowledged that characters are a CRUCIAL part of the experience. Without them, it's literally barren; look what happened to the Sanctum without Dr. Strange. The creepy AI interactions Disney's been touting aren't going to cut it. Disney needs to be more appreciative of the very people they rely on to breathe life into their park additions. Because if you're too lazy, greedy, and misguided to invest in your actors AND your attractions, you get...well, this. Thanks for sharing your insights!

Fun Fact: Disney almost got the theme park rights to Harry Potter in the 2000s and actually created a pitch for it. It would have looked similar to Avengers Campus but J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. both hated it and went behind Disney's back to hear and accept Universal's pitch

Would’ve been really cool if they made it a “pocket universe” within The Collector’s vault that broke free once Thanos destroyed his tower or something along those lines. Make it Battleworld without using Battleworld because we have to save that for Phase 10 in 2037 when Howard The Duck becomes a major player.

I kind of get what Avengers Campus was going for, basically trying to fit with the "Calfiornia" theme and making a silicone valley-esque area (which I think is why it's called campus, kind of like apple's campus in cupertino) but I wish they would have leaned into it more with more technology and more cutting edge stuff. For me, the only saving grace of this place is the actors since it seems to at least give it more kinetic energy than galaxy's edge
@DrStarlander
@DrStarlander Күн бұрын
The campus/trining theme was a weak foundation for the land, so they needed to "sell it" more with stuff like: --An interactive Young Avenger's training course (with nets and slides and fun interactive like in Toontown). --A "World Watch Command Room" (could have been a restaurant or retail) filled with screens showing "live feeds" from all over the world as if they are monitoring the state of things. --A "Hall of Honor" where they honor Avengers and their exploits and triumphs. --More cool vehicles parked and moving around the land to make it feel alive and like a working "base." These are just examples, but the point is they dipped their toes into this theme but never dove in and made us feel like we were actually on some working Avengers campus.
@OBSDCC7
@OBSDCC7 Күн бұрын
I agree that a Campus is a really fucking boring theme, however given the source material, what could the theme of the land realistically be while still representing the full Avengers roster? Avengers Tower? Would be way too small to be a themed land but Wakanda, Asgard and Knowhere are all way too specific and would be contrived to justify all these characters being in one of those locations EDIT: Almost immediately after posting this comment, I realized that a Multiversal rift with several iconic locations together would actually be sick. A Sanctum Sanctorum area with maybe a walkthrough of “magical relics”, a portion of Avenger’s tour with maybe a quick service dining area themed above a training room? Like the floor would look down into a curved screen like the one at Space 220, where you can see Hulk fight Thor (For example) and then Flight Lab and Web Slingers would be there (or ideally better replacements, but it is what it is) sort of like The Land pavillion, and then a Knowhere area that would surround Mission Breakout. Infinity Defense’s queue would be entered from the bottom floor of the Avengers Tower facade, probably

@@DrStarlanderliterally almost every marvel hero lives in New York. Why couldn’t they have built a New York City area with the Sanctum Sanctorum and inside there can be a doctor strange trippy dark ride. For Spiderman, all they had to do was make something similar to the ride in Universal but MCU themed. The only thing that’s good is the Mission BO but that’s only a reskin of an existing ride so I’m not counting that one.

Same can be said with Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Out of the three trilogies they made the absolute worse one a dedicated land. Want to meet Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader? Too bad. Want to meet clone troopers Captain Rex and Commander Cody from the prequels? Too bad. Want to jam with the band at the cantina where Luke meets Han? Too bad all you get to meet is Rey Palpatine and Kylo Mid.

Its amazing how much The Adventures Continue has rejuvenated Star Tours as an attraction. It may be the only good thing Disney's done with Tomorrowland since the original Star Tours 40 years ago. Rerideability's great with the "randomized" scenes, but i do wish they didn't lean on the new scenes as much. There should be more OT scenes in the mix.

In a similar vein to when you were talking about how you can see Mater talking to the car ahead of you while the sheriff is talking to you another thing that sucks is you can usually hear Frank Roar and rev up for the car in front of you to and often even the car in front of them too Also even when hes popping out two whole cars in front of you, he roars so loudly that he overpowers the Sheriff talking to you from 5 feet away AND THEN youll hear him roar a second time for the car in front of you when youre talking to mater AND THEN youll finally see him pop out for your car after that
