This video moves a bit too fast. I will be using prepared masa which contains everything...but the mex friends I know...also add some broth to the masa to smooth it out. I will also add broth. This cook doesn't do that...and the masa looks kind of difficult to spread easily. There are very few videos using True Prepared Masa with lard and baking powder in it. They all do it from scratch. I wish there were more videos from cooks who use prepared masa and add broth. I only use prepared.
@ezeatery9 күн бұрын
I used 3/4 Cups of chicken broth in the pre made masa and a bit of seasoning. As long as the prepared masa states lard and baking powder, it’s good to go. I just add a bit more for enhanced flavoring. Thank you for watching ☺️

@@ezeatery My pleasure. Thank you for so quickly responding. I am "White as Snow"...but am married to a 100% Mexican. We have some close Mexican friends...but some of them never learned from their mothers how to make tamales. That is actually a darn shame. My late mother-in-law taught me how to make them. She sometimes used prepared and other times did the work herself. Since she's been "gone"...I haven't made them in probably ten or twelve yrs. or so. Always BOUGHT THEM. Decided to jump back into 'Em this season. Thanks again for your advice.

@@WooWooGirl I’m so sorry to hear. It can be especially challenging around the holiday, but you’ve got this!! Just make sure to do the “float” test to ensure the masa is hydrated. If the masa doesn’t float in the cold water right away, you need to keep kneading. It will get there. Wishing you and your family happy holidays.

Do you have an air fryer recommendation? I've been thinking of buying one for black friday ❤
@ezeateryАй бұрын
I personally like the power xl air fryer oven. I just bought the Ninja Foodie (the one that tilts up and is a space saver), but I don’t feel I have as much room in it as I do with the power xl. I have several basket ones too, but nothing remotely compares to the power xl. I guess they all serve their certain purpose though.

Can you share the exact amount of batter you used? a cup? a cup and a half?
@ezeatery2 ай бұрын
I used about a cup of batter. Enough to fill it up to about 1/8th under the line. If you fill it up to the line, then it spills out through the sides and makes a big mess. I hope this is helpful ☺️ Have fun!

I am so grateful to you! Many other channels give recipes for supposedly air-fryer casseroles and rice dishes but assume that everyone has a stovetop or a microwave where they can cook rice or pasta. I don't, and I was looking for something that can be done in the air fryer from start to finish. Big, big thank you!

I used a plastic knife to begin to remove it . Slowly run it around the sides of the pie maker and then put what you want under the pie to lift it out. You know like you would do to a regular pie in a pie pan.

What if you try putting a little egg wash the top of the pie top? Also you could use a piece of parchment paper in a strip with the edges out under the bottom crust to help take the pie out .
