Borg has winning h2h against Lendl, Lendl has winning h2h against Agassi, Agassi has winning h2h against Kuerten, Kuerten is up against Federer.

I remember watching this match live back then. Gaby and Steffi were the 2 promising stars. Gaby even seemed to have more variety in her repertoire than Steffi. Unfortunately, her mental abilities were very fragile and she did not have the expected carreer we all expected from her. With only one slam under her belt, it cannot be satisfying for such a talented player. She should have won the French and did not even make it to the final. What went wrong with her ??????

Monica struggled against three opponents before Capriati, who the crowd and media zealously supported, and still beat Gunthergraf in straight sets! Birth of a warrior! No wonder Novak admired Monica so much, especially with the same childhood coach. The two GOATs!

Don't forget Laver was 39 years old (or nearly if this is before August) at this point. At the end of a gruelling pro and open career playing over a hundred matches a year...

Such bad commentators. When Monica is down 4-6 in the tiebreak, they fail to mention how Monica hit a winner off an overhead off the bounce when she had missed the same shot to lose serve when she was serving for the set. Pretty amazing for a 16 yo to correct her form and produce a winner. Evert sure had a lot to say about the error but couldn’t compliment Monica for the winner.

The beginning of the matches in those days was crazy with all those photographers and people crowding in on the players . At least that is something which is far better now . Never liked Connors but Borg was a gent .

Martina: “Monica at her best would beat me at my best.” Chris Evert to Monica: “You would have won the most GS titles.” Enough said.

If Monica was not stabbed, I'm convinced that she would have won at Wimbledon, and probably would have won two. She was that fearless and dominating back then. She would have figured it out

It didn't seem that Monica and Martina were friends around this time based on the rather cold handshake between the two. I guess their friendship grew after the stabbing as Martina was the biggest advocate for Seles returning as #1 player

Chris Evert never looked more upset than losing this match. She always was a gracious loser in the past that gave a smile a few kind words to the champion, but this one really upset her.

1:19:27 WTH is Joanne Russell extolling Navratilova's return when Chris proceeds to hit a great forehand winner. No love lost between Evert and Russell, I think, since they had played from childhood and as Bud Collins pointed out, Evert won every match.

the Seles fans and their argument goes down the toilet here when debating who was better..so what really happened here???? ..100% proof that Graf is the GOAT the way she destroyed Seles with such ease in this match when Seles was supposed to win as the world #1 and favourite heading in..Steffi toys with her on tennis's highest stage..Graf so much stronger mentally..and to win Wimbledon you have to be strong mentally..what did Steffi say when asked if she was afraid of her?? 'no, not really' lol

Stefan Edberg had a great backhand but his forehand was extremely weird and weak. His permanent serve and volley playing style was alright for the 80's and the beginning of the 90's but in today's tennis with players like Nadal, Djokovic and Alcazar he would receive one return after the other and would have zero chances of winning with that kind of game. Nobody plays today like Edberg anymore. It was a very old-school style

That last game in particular illustrating how Martina's forehand really was shaky at times, both on the volley and at the baseline. Under pressure it could really fall apart. Monica knew that and directed a lot of her shots to Martina's forehand on big points.

Monica didn't grunt in the final, but it obviously affected the quality of her play against Graf. Monica wrote in her book she was so conscientious of not grunting that she was not paying enuff attention to Graf. She says after Wimbledon that year she's glad the grunting issue finally came to an end, but it cost her a Wimbledon title

As weird as this may sound , Seles looked like she was struggling a bit in this match when Maleeva was hitting hard. I think there is a chance she would have lost to Graf in the final had she made it through. Horrible incident however.

As a long time tennis fan I feel that us fans were robbed of great future matches with Graf vs Seles. The Seles incident was horrific, she never was the same after that attack. I'm sure it was a traumatic moment for a young lady to go through. If that incident never happened we would've had the equivalent of Federer vs Nadal on the female side in the 90s.
