@@cush_and_the_crew thanks for watching and commenting. I was using MSR Groundhogs and whilst they took some getting in on the rocky ground they never budged. Your friend was unprepared. Delta pegs for the windward side most likely would have had solved his issues but bulky. The minimum he should have is extra pegs and guyline to double peg the windward side which you should do whenever high winds expected, On poor ground you may want to tripple peg. Alot easier than hunting for rocks and putting them back after. The fact you could walk means the winds were not that high as in under 50mph, wind speeds always feel higher than they are. Have a soulo BL myself. I would recommend double poleing the side pole on your solo, as the side is your weak point.
@cheviotoutdoors21 күн бұрын
@@DemiGod.. it was Ronnie’s first ever wild camp and he was using borrowed gear so he had limited options. The weather was worse than we were expecting and I guess bailing was the best option. A good call to pack down when the winds pushing at the wrong side and due to get worse. Always good to be at home warm and safe. Plenty more time to revisit. What was the wind speed or did you not take your anemometer. I always use mountain forecast for weather which is usually right. Never use the normal weather apps as it’s based on town at sea level and not elevation. Looked a good memory made Dave!
