I prefer Metcon 5. The only change I'd make would be the lacing loops.. I'd put the Flywire eyelet cables on the 5, with a couple more pairs, and I'd put the loop on the heel of the 6 on the 5, and that's perfection!

Nike needs to take a lesson from this first release and do away with the solid heel on the Newer Metcons. These were the first Crossfit shoes I really enjoyed. Not so great for running but a much more user friendly shoe than the newer ones.

How are they for walking, and jump rope
@fitatmidlife927
@fitatmidlife927 14 күн бұрын
Walking - they work just fine. Comfortable to wear for long time periods - standing or walking. Honestly I don't jump rope any more - it's too much repetitive impact (I'm old). Having said that - these would probably be OK if you have healthy hips/knees.

FYI, ya might wanna stop doing the over under grip on your deadlift, science has shown that when anybody pops a bicep tendon while deadlifting always pops it on the hand that is holding the bar in the under grip. Good video, I liked how you compared these to the 9's.

Yeah - me too. When I saw "Nike Metcon 1 OG" , i mis-read it as 10 G - LOL. I think Metcon 10 is gonna be real, real similar to Metcon 9 though. They tend to make major changes EVERY OTHER YEAR, so this year is probably a minor update.

@fitatmidlife927
@fitatmidlife927 Ай бұрын
Regarding width they are both pretty close, but realize the Free Metcon 6 is a tight, "sock like" fit. It's meant to hug your foot. So - that'll probably feel better. The Metcon 9 won't "hug" your foot like that.

Great review! Thanks for the info .. but I love the GoRuck trainers I have the ballistic trainers in Lunar Rock and Black .. I will never buy a pair of Nikes again because they became too political so I started looking for alternatives .. the only other sneaker I would buy is the OnCloud’s which are pretty good too.

Hi I’m looking to get a shoe for dance fitness class , and I’m leaning towards Nike free metcon 5 and free metcon 6 . But I’m not sure which one is better in terms of durability as the other factors are very similar in both . Which one do you suggest to be the best buy overall being the same price .
@fitatmidlife927

Regarding durability - it's just too early to tell. I've only had the 6 for about a month. That said, I've owned EVERY version of this shoe and had not issues with durability. If you can find the 5 with a good discount - get that,.

@fitatmidlife927
@fitatmidlife927 2 ай бұрын
I wouldn't say quality is less, but it's definitely lighter - I think because of the upper it's a ligheter weight material. Therefore the upper might be less durable (but more comfortable). Only time will tell, I think. To be honest the way I use these the upper doesn't get much wear and tear. I'll report back in a few weeks.

They're good for squatting, no doubt, but I don't trust them at all for weightlifting. Very cheap material such as the rubber on the sole. I had Rom 3s and the rubber came off after like 3 months of weightlifting. Switched to Reebok legacy and damn that didn't disappoint me for 3 years. Purchased the Rom 4s cuz they were on sale and heavily discounted, same issue. The cheap material, the rubber came off after 2 months of use, and it isn't very stable either. The Legacy lifter on the other hand is 10x better. Problem with the new gen Roms is that they keep using the same cheap plastic. The Rom 2s weren't like this. They were sturdy and reliable and hence the best shoes for weightlifting ever.

I just done my Tough Mudder in them. Yes kept them for 4 years till i put them to test. They actually did well in obstacles and water out really good. However the distance was more than 10 miles, so not sure there was enough support/softness as these metcons are quite hard shoe. Now i have pain in left foot, not sure it’s because of the shoue or I bashed it during obstacle. The feet felt well protected though, lacing system was tight, so to sum them up - decent performance. Not sure why nike stopped making them

I hope people understand that the OTB is used for very short duration periods and for a very niche job. Finning to the beach and moving across til you can switch to a dry pair of combat boots. Caving vbss ladders. And cqb on goplats. Anything outside that is not what they are notorious for.

Don't get sucked in to buying Altamas for the cool camo. They have a very specific function but aren't good for high miles, hard ground or cold temps. I bought them for my style of canoe tripping which doesn't involve much portaging but does require something with good traction on slippery rocks.
@UguysRnuts
@UguysRnuts 6 ай бұрын
Careful if you need ankle support. The Altamas have extremely little due to the very flexible outsole. Good for feeling the surface but not good if you're prone to sprains or have previous injury. First day I wore them left me in serious pain for the following two.
