One Scarred Hand was written in the lobby of Denver Lodge in Taos, New Mexico on the second Sundays of Advent in 1992. It was written by Ivan Parker, Shawn Obrien and I. I had just been diagnosed with both Hodgkins and non-Hodgkins lymphoma. John Denver had AIDS which he got from a blood transfusion. We needed help dealing with terminal illness issues.

I have suppressed memories and I don't like that some people want to steal music copyrights and make me look bad because I can't remember when or how songs were written. Stealing intellectual property IS A CRIME! Tjis song was cleanly stolen off my monitor channel. I know Ivan C Parker was a co-writer and Shawn Obrien was a third author. Ivan C Parker had the original copyright.

I love the oak ridge boys and that dude with the unreal base is phenomenal but seriously he doesn't look like he'd have that voice growing up I always thought it was the oak ridge boy with the cowboy hat and long beard looking like a country gandalf that had the ethereal base not the skinny handsome guy that looks like a insurance salesman or something but just wow..and this is real country..and Rip Joe bonsall ❤

That is absurd. This song was written by my mom, Savana Foust. I don't know why so many ignorant people are now telling their version of how the song was written. I actually have the original hand written words.
