Hi, Super mod!! Would love to do this myself but I think a steel plate will work better. Anychance you could provide me with a step file? I found not many company accept the files that are there in your link

I have been looking everywhere for fixes for these lights. Even videos of people taking them apart....nothing for multiple times of searching daily until I find this. You allowed me to fully dissect the broken ones we had. All it required was tightening of the screws the gobo wheel/color wheel are attached to.

In the past, fusion splicers used to be quite expensive. However, with more manufacturers entering the market, prices have become more affordable. If you're in need of a fusion splicer, feel free to reach out to us for consultation!

It's a shame that the project wasn't continued. I think the idea of incorporating such functions into the moving spot of size is really cool. I'm currently thinking about replicating the gobo wheel idea from the previous video for 5 moving spots. Maybe there will be another update to the modified moving spot in the future :)

Hello, nice video. I was watching and it came to my mind that you could spray it with black spray instead of the folium :)
@ConnorEhrgood11 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks! Paint may be an option, but the black would likely turn too much of the light into heat and melt the plastic. Perhaps a good, opaque, white paint would do it. Thanks for watching!

Maybe rather than 3d printing these out of plastic you could send them off to a cheap laser service. similar to the service used to make stencils for solder paste? Idk if sendcutsend can do this or not.
@ConnorEhrgood11 ай бұрын
There was a brief while I though about this for making them in bulk to sell. It would totally work. I've done this before for more standard gobos. Quick turnaround and mega cheap. Thanks for watching!

Nice work! I wonder if heat resistant paint would be better
@ConnorEhrgood11 ай бұрын
Thanks! A good, opaque white paint may be able to pull this off. It would come down to whether the little bit of heat wicking provided by the aluminum tape is actually needed, and that is something I'm not sure of. Worth a shot, I'd say! Thatns for watching!

Very cool video! I have a few of these lights and never even thought about the upgrade potentials. I like the CMY colour mixing idea as well, it sounds very difficult to accomplish though. Have you considered whether adding RGB led modules along with the built in white one to get RGB colour mixing is feasible? I have no experience in this type of modding so perhaps you've ruled it out for an obvious reason, sounds more doable to me off the top of my head though
@ConnorEhrgood11 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! I've considered using an RGB LED, but I suspect I would struggle to source a sufficiently bright LED and know that my limited optical knowledge would likely not yield the nice even mix I'd be after, although maybe it's simpler than I'm thinking. Looks like there's room for others to improve these further!

afak on 2 show cockpit controls the encoders via the webremote
@ConnorEhrgood Жыл бұрын
I believe that is the case. My understanding is that the entire MA2 integration in SC is through the web UI. I'm thinking it worked differently on MA2 in that maybe it had discrete commands and control instead of implementing a remote desktop type thing. Not sure, though. Thanks for watching!
@flashyStrobe Жыл бұрын
yep, the ma2 web remote does have discrete commands instead of this action at pixel position system. neat project btw

I'm working on a very similar project but for the ETC Eos software, luckily for me they have an open source usb-serial implementation with some well commented example code for arduino. Very cool though, I will make something similar if/when i switch to MA

I love this! Add a ws28XX strip with indicators for presetfeaturetype.
@ConnorEhrgood Жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for watching! I was hoping I would be able to make these backlit like the ones on the console, but that opens a pretty big can of worms when using the web ui method because the console only sends back a video stream, no discrete data. That means we'd have to receive a video stream and try to process it to extract data. Possible? Yes, but we'd likely need more processing power and a whole lot more code. At that point a lua setup of some sort may be a better option. This is just the beginnings of a larger project I'm calling OpenSurface. Keep an eye out for updates on that!

@ConnorEhrgood Жыл бұрын
Ah, if only! Maybe some day, but definitely not today. These are just cheap compared to the bigger name ones that range in price from about $10,000 to $50,000. Definitely an investment for us, but one that's paid off pretty well so far!
