Hi Andy, the bits made in Taiwan whith the yellow sleeve are definately better quality in my experience, I've never had one break using an 18v impact driver. Usually the other type you had are for a normal drill ,driver. Bottom line is when any bit jumps out a couple times their toast, bin em because they'll only chew up your screws , at least you have a box of 25 to go at,lol. Cheers mate, Atb. Stuart Uk.

I had our big 1890s semi re-roofed about 20 years ago. Next door had theirs done at the same time in Eternit so salvaged lots of their slates as well as our own. Bitumin underfelt was put in and despite living about 900ft up in an exposed location there's been no leaks but what i discovered about 8 years ago was that there wer places where it had all frayed before it reached the gutter. Decided to eaves tray it but found that the kicker slate nails got in the way. Bloody nightmare. I had already had to replace some tiles on a small single storied extension where the window cleaner had walked up to do the upstairs window. Crawler and ripper to the ready, strip back 3 courses and use the latest spring loaded stainless steel tingle for the top closer, no problem at all. One thing I hadn't expectd though, was they'd used heavy galvo clout nails when they reslated that as part of the big job [8^O. None of them would ease up, let alone rip so ended up wrecking both the next 2 and the closer slate as well. Anyway, lesson learned when it came to the main roof trays. Managed to ease up the kickers to slip the tray under. found the distance to the nails and trimmed the tray width accordingly. Really out to have slotted the try around the nails but it was impossible to locate their position. Next problem was the lip on the tray which extended too far across the gutter and caujht the wind. No multi-tool back then so it was tray out and hand-saw the excess off, back up the ladder and fiddle about again. That was the rear 1st floor extension and I was at it for days. Rest of main roof still on the to-do list. Had to go back up a few times to use the silly stuff where one of the lengths had worked loose in the gales. So, if you can, put up with it, the noise will eventually go away. If you can't, get it re-slated with breather membrane and EPs. it will put quite a lot of value on the house. PS if anyone needs any Welsh slates I'v got a couple of pallets ful. Cheers

Hi Andy! are you able to offer a general rating on how successful this was? "7/10 would recommend" type thing, it would be really helpful. I appreciate you will never 100% sound proof a partition wall but if you've reduced the noise from the neighbours but 60% then it sounds worth while

In the rooms without a fireplace it's been great but unfortunately the huge hole in the wall is a massive weak point. Certainly an improvement though. I'd say 6/10 for this room. 8/10 for other rooms. Very subjective obviously.

Andy, always enjoy your videos but I can't understand why you did not replace the roof when you first started the renovation. From what I remember you have that expanding foam sprayed on the inside and understand that people with this can't sell as lenders won't give a mortgage. You must have been a cash buyer.😀

New roof = £10k and this roof is fine other than some remedial repairs. No mortgage issues with the spray foam - all been checked, all good. 💪

I believe that yes, strong wind could fairly easily lift the deck. The stream of air blowing along its top has a reduced pressure compared to the air underneath. This pressure differential can be enough. It's like the reverse of ground effect in racing cars.

Hi Andy, just seen your videos having had the local council in to deal with a wasp nest problem in an identical location to yours - cost £74 with an agreement for a second visit if required days later to rid the nest of newly hatched? wasps. Not seen a thing after one visit. Little nervous that I may see this again next year! Loved the videos and subscribed. Thanks mate

Hi mate.Good to watch. Notice a hole in the interlock tiles to the side. Look on 22.30mins above your hand 2nd tile up. Could have been the rotten battern cause. You can seal with mortar ...Great to watch u mate

Hi Andy, I have the same table saw and the same issue with the blade not rising sometimes. The only thing that fixes it for me is a good clean out with a hoover and WD40 (preferably the dry version)....

I want to do this work but also I am thinking to insulate the eves. Currently no felt in my 1930's property so at some point a new roof will be on the cards but till then its DIY work. FYI you can buy 19mm x 38mm Batten's just try the local BM.

Lovely ....But But But if youve got good old fashioned Welsh slates as I have trying to fit these was a nightmare....It is not a job you can do on your own....And you need a ripper...to remove the tiles...not an easy job for a novice or even a good Diyer...without a great deal of planning

Houses did not used to have sarking felt. You could tell where the leak was back in the day, now the roof can leak and slowly and just rot away the laths sometimes spreading to rafters. Gaz Yorkshire.
