Jefferson Davis said blacks were some of the most devoted and loyal soldiers
@wubuck792 күн бұрын
Lol it’s not a myth at all. Thirty years ago I participated in a memorial service at the grave of a black Confederate. His family was there and was still in possession of the sword his officer master had left him. If I remember correctly, he petitioned for and received a pension after the war, according to his family. Statistically speaking, they were not a large force, but they did exist, and served for various reasons, ranging from compulsion to actual patriotism. We can agree with their motives or not, it doesn’t matter. They existed and it’s disrespectful to pretend they didn’t just because it makes contemporary people uncomfortable or upset.

“There were no LARGE regiments in the confederacy”. But there were quite a few black confederate soldiers. Lady thought she was teaching something and dude thought he was saying something. Make no mistake blacks did serve in the confederate outside of working plantations. Kind of dumb but they did do it none the less.

There were no black Confederate Regiments, what there were however were blacks taken to war with their masters who were largely Confederate officers wherein they worked as cooks, dug latrines and did a lot of the jobs that low ranking logistics NCOs would do as soldiers in our military today.

Those women had a skill that today’s women don’t. I can imagine now, those women would have spent 10 to 20 hours a week every week of their life and taking great pride in perfecting their priceless hand motions. Now we have women that complain about buying butter from the store.

Neo-Confederate propagandists like to point out that one of the larger slave owners in South Carolina before the Civil War was a black man. They neglect to mention that when his two adult sons volunteered for the Confederate army they were rejected. The Confederate government did not allow blacks to enlist as soldiers,
@TerryDesee-d1q29 күн бұрын
There were no regiments of black only soldier's because the Confederate Army was integrated from the start. The north had all black regiments, irish, German etc because they were a segregated Army. The united States military did not desegregate until 1948 under President Harry S. Truman, a member of the Son's of Confederate Veterans. Quit spinning history!!!
@VernonWillis-n8o28 күн бұрын
The reason there were no regiments of black Confederate soldiers because there were no black Confederate soldiers period. No matter how many times that lie about black Confederate soldiers is told it will still be a lie. Also, the Union Army did not segregate its ranks by ethnicity. The Irish and German regiments you speak of were volunteer regiments who had enlisted as a unit.
@NickT1861Ай бұрын
Unionist propaganda. Black confederates absolutely did exist.
@VernonWillis-n8o28 күн бұрын
I'm sure they did. However, THEY WERE NOT soldiers, they were slaves. The Confederate government absolutely forbade the enlistment of black men as soldiers until near the end of the war when a few regiments were raised. None of them ever saw action and it was too late to make any difference.

I live in a racially tense area aka detroit so whenever I hear blacks crying about the white man being systemically racist toward them i just nicely remind them how many white faught and died so they could be free to spread bs rn
@VernonWillis-n8o28 күн бұрын
And whenever I hear whites spewing that bs about how many of them died to make us free, I nicely remind them that the overwhelming majority of white Union soldiers made it clear that they were fighting to restore the Union not to end slavery. That was obvious from the spike in the Union desertion rate after the Emancipation Proclamation. I would also remind you that black men fought and died in the Union ranks as well. So it wasn't just you fighting for us. We fought for you too.

What did the Confederacy and Nazi regime have in common? 1. Neither one could finish a war they started. 2. They both built economies dependent on exploiting entire groups of people 3. Both like to retell history in their favor. Hell, Nazis deny the holocaust and confederates deny the war was about slavery. 4. Both are yht ppl…lol. ……..See a pattern here?

This guy is either ignorant (most likely) or a liar. There are written reports from Union generals at Manassas who said they saw black men, Manning the cannons. Nathan Bedford Forest had blacks in his regiment. There's also a photograph of Confederate soldiers marching through Maryland with black soldiers shouldering muskets. While it wasn't policy of the South to use black soldiers for cannon fodder like the Yankees did, we did have blacks who participated in combat roles.

The Confederate Army was desegregated from the start. The Yankees did not desegregate until under president Harry S Truman in 1948. The South had all 5 of the Civilized Tribe's fighting for the Confederacy. The Brigadier Gen in charge was a Cherokee Chief named Stand Waite...

It was actually stated by Frederick Douglass who saw many blacks fighting for the Confederacy. this guy doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. Frederick Douglass quote: It is now pretty well established, that there are at the present moment many colored men in the Confederate army doing duty not only as cooks, servants and laborers, but as real soldiers, having muskets on their shoulders, and bullets in their pockets, ready to shoot down loyal troops, and do all that soldiers may to destroy the Federal Government and build up that of the traitors and rebels. There were such soldiers at Manassas, and they are probably there still.
