Transparency is one of the most resource intensive material functions in a video game. That's probably why you couldn't see into the lockers. Although I have seen it done with image textures and normal maps, doesn't look as good though. As much as I love Subnautica, it's not the most optimized or sophisticated game ever. And that 'roll control' thing is not how submarines work at all. LMAO It's cool, but yeah, submarines pretty much stay upright unless something is seriously wrong. It's also a pretty old game as well, like 7 years now. I'm pretty sure they did the best they could, it was an Indie game.

I still wish they would say the month it releases, out of all of the 365 days there is, that way it narrows down to only 30 days in a row of looking for it on the store
@darkodom6 сағат бұрын
They likely don't know either, with their time frame just being this year. They have internal time frames for their release, sure, but if they tell us February and have to delay it 3 times that looks really bad. You can wishlist it and Steam will tell you when its fully planned to release/does release.

Looking forward to Subnautica 2. Below Zero was a bit of a disappointment. WHY replace the Cyclops with the Seatruck? WHY!?
@ShotoTodoroki-qs3ip10 сағат бұрын
@@dekky3908 eh, for me i actually liked the change. The cyclops is big and clunky and hard to manoeuvre. The sea truck was easier for me to move. But that’s just my own opinion and preference. Would have been nice if they’d added it to the first subnautica along side the cyclops.
@dekky39087 сағат бұрын
@@ShotoTodoroki-qs3ip Agreed, Below Zero feels more like an expansion and not a stand alone game. The Seatruck isn't terrible, but the Cyclops actually felt like a real submarine. Slowly maneuvering that beast through the Lost River while catching glimpses of ghost leviathans in the dark really added to the atmosphere of the game.

The irony is that the game can be updated by the devs, the planet can have weather as confirmed in below zero as well as the first game's own lore (see the Degasi logs where they had storms while living on the island). Not having them because the player may spend a lot of time underwater makes as little sense as not giving a player a backpack because they already have a built-in inventory. Yes, I am referring to Minecraft.
@RaiderAvian20 сағат бұрын
(grouping comments, dont mind me) Spoiling food feels like the dev's way of having the player manage food strategically. And by extension their inventory. Inventory management is a notable part of Subnautica because the player has to manage their resources well to survive. And food is relatively accessible in every part of the map, so the player can always either hunt fish, or have farms set up in certain locations to pick up supplies. It is though a bit of a hinderance since the player would then be reliant on the environment for food while exploring. Which is something that below zero has tried to implement in a similar way. But then again, the map of below zero is too small to truly benefit from it. That also said, it is a shame that some of the items and mechanics from below zero could not be retroactively added to the first game. Namely the machine that can disassemble components the player can reuse in other crafts. Or the additional content like the shower or jukebox.

I find BZ's recyclotron more convenient than the defabricator. It recognizes if your seaglide is using an Ion battery and gives you the ion battery back. Plus, you don't need to select from a complicated menu just to defabricate something, just put your item in the machine and you'll get the parts back.

Hello! I know this is of topic but, I was wondering how you insert mods in subnautica because I insert mods from the in-game mod manager because sometimes when i do it from in-game sometimes it doesn't download into the game. So it will be amazing if you could make a video about how you insert your mods.

The moon pool thing baffles me honestly. My phone charger charges my phone: it can’t repair it
@CrimxsenКүн бұрын
Lmaoo I feel that’s an odd comparison since real life isn’t sci fi like Subnautica, and the cyclops also recharges vehicles when docked but it also can repair docked vehicles at the same time! It uses the same arms as the moonpool to grab the vehicle so in a similar fashion I feel it’d make sense for the moonpool to have an upgrade module that lets you repair vehicles while docked!

Weather Mod: No, if you add it, it must reduce solar-energy production and visibility during day. That would increase the difficulty for new players severly, giving advantage to players, that quickly get bio or heat generators and turning solar into a waste of resources. Fridge Mod: the spoiling is made for survival and as a means to think around early game. Fridge basically not required, just get specimen containment, aquarium or plant your food. Honestly one lantern fruit tree is enough in my experience. Fridge would either ruin the early struggle or be not required later. Also salt. Map Mod: It does take a lot from the game. buoys only give a direction and distance with a name (and color), but don't help navigate around dangerous areas. Also you already have a map on the move. You are invalidating this whole function of the seaglide (and the cyclops) As for should have been vanilla I agree on: Visible Locker, Moonpool Repair (but not as default, should be an upgrade), Base Color, Hull Reinforcement (though never used it), Grapple Pickup and Beacon Deploy Rest is more nice to have, but not really vanilla feeling (cyclops docking probably not added to give the impression of a big mobile base of it's own)

About that map mode, I think it should be in the base game, but not at the start of it. During the progression you make a compass which help you to navigate yourself, so the map I think should serve as an upgrade to the compass that you can equip. But getting the map ought to require a blueprint which would be found somewhere in the wrecks or lifepods.
@Crimxsen2 күн бұрын
I like that idea a lot! Balances it out way more with other things like the compass that are already in the game!

Great videos, and overall great mods ! Concerning the map mod, and the "ruined experience".... Yeah, I get the point, but as Sub is a solo game, if it suits some players, why not. Personnally, I don't want it, and I prefer the scanner room approach, much more physicalized and organics, but it's a matter of taste. Nevertheless, I'd warn any new player that seem interested that... Yeah, it somehow remove some of the core gameplay such as exploration, navigation to find again a previously visited spot, etc. I can't forget my first hours on Sub, asking myself why some giant luminescent sea snake just depleted 2/3 of my life with the matching panic attack I got at the same time... Having no clue I was above the Grand Reef after visiting the floating Islands ^^ I guess this is part of the wholesome experience that you wish you'd forget it to live it again, and... precisely what a map would have affected. EDIT: just reach the Cyclops docking module part: Wow. This is amazing. I totally agree with the "it should have been in the vanilla game" but the mod also propose a great solution: simple, functionnal, and well integrated. Much more elegant than the Sea Ttruck docking tube we have in Subnautica: below expectation... Sorry, I meant below Zerow.

That's actually what the dark part in the front of the cyclops originally was planned for, as well as the dark flooring by the wheel was meant to open as a staircase down into your base after docking.

personally, i can't stand the weather mod. I dont think it should be in the vanilla... YET. The audio is the issue. It's entirely unrealistic and jarring. Audio does not dim and distort when underwater and you shouldn't be able to hear thunder like that when in a deep sea base.
