Hey excellent work. Don’t beat yourself up. It came out better than it was before and that’s all that matters. In the future if you decide to you can replace the whole corner. If you ever find a German corner. I wouldn’t replace with aftermarket. Not worth it. Over all good work. Good practice and a step up. One tip is to grind away the entire work area so you can see what you’re working with before replacing any metal. Unless you are try😅my to save patina paint.

One thing that might help is to lap weld all these patches and only butt weld where you can't tap the seam down - edges of doors, posts, etc. Factories lap welded the roof to the quarter panel in a shallow valley and filled w/ lead for decades - called a sail panel seam. This is likely where body shops learned it from. Lap, tap and fill. It'll last a lot longer than butt welding - easier & faster too 😊

Have used that chrome paint since it came out in the 70's, use to paint lawn mower rusted chrome handles and sell them. Like you said a improvement !

good job, thanks. step one when disassemble the switch is remove the 2 lamps, last step on reassembly is install the lamps. There is zero clearance and will fight it otherwise.

Been there... done that... VW was much easier to work on. It was a straight intake port to break booster connect hose. But about 165$ Your children are sooooo lucky. I'm not as good as ypu...but it feels good fixing and saving money.

Your lucky....here in Michigan its against the law to put studded tires on your vehicle...we are surrounded by the great lakes...and we get that lake effect snow.....we really need studded tires....but stupid democrat say they mess up the roads.....roads are alredy messed up.
