This fight proves that Zaire was a "one-off" And Ali knew that himself. That why Ali walked away from millions upon millions for Ali-foreman II, to fight an OLD WHITE dude instead.

Just like all those years before. George learned from Ali. Tap tap blink. Your a dead duck. Bang bang goodnight.

If George wouldve went to the body more like he did against Bert Cooper I think he wouldve ended it earlier

What a delightful man. I too remember him well as an All Black but dont think Ive ever seen an interview with him. He seems like he punches above his weight. Thanks for the memories John Gallagher hope life is treating you well.

They were a good side. I think today with VAR the last minute penalty would have been overturned. Wheel infringed but Andy flopping like that is unsporting. The JPR incident at Bridgend was regrettable. Regardless of if his arms were pinned or he refused to release the ball you don't stamp on a guy's face. That said he seemed philosophical about it.

I wish they'd have shown Moores corner between rounds. All the talk Teddy does I'd like to see what he was telling his fighter before the 10th.

He literall told Moorer to move around, to not stand in front of George and trade shots. And Moorer did thr opposite

I wonder whether anyone remembers the Garry Jack late head high tackle on Easts second rower John McKay (I think that's who it was). Televised game. It was a shocking incident. Very malicious. Not sure if McKay took Jack to court over that. But the NSWRL took no action against Jack because of his 'international' status. Karma?

I was up watching this game early in the morning NZ time. I smiled when NZ won this game no matter how they did it. Even though Andy Haden did that line out act and so did Frank Oliver but the penalty was actually against the Welsh Lock leaning his hand on a All Black shoulder in that line out.

George had Moorer figured out by round 4. By round 6 Moorer had lost concentration. And George has a hard head too.

FOREMANS POWER
@user-te3jc3sl7rАй бұрын
It was brutal stuff back then. The foul play back then would be instant red card ordering off in the modern game. The IRB/ International rugby laws back then didn't seem to care much for players'health and safety Replacements weren't allowed for injured players and some stayed on the field or teams played with one or more players down. It wasn't until the late 1960's when the IRB allowed replacements.

I was at the New Oakland Boxing Club with big George Foreman. I always worked out of that big, hard, and ugly bag in the far corner of the gym, which was George's bag. I could barely move it, but George snapped it back like mom's laundry bag! Wow! What a heavy puncher. This was a long time before he fought Muhammad Ali. George lived in Hayward, California at that time. I should have chosen another heavy bag, because I had trouble finding any lightweights who wanted to spar with me! I was a double full-time student, and only wanted to be a scholar! But, I wanted to be the best fighter in the gym! I wound up sparring with this California State Pro Champion, with no trainer in my corner, who was muscular like Marvin Hagler. I did not know that he had previously broke my heavyweight friends ribs with his best shot to the liver-rib area. I went only one round with him after he hit me with that same liver-rib shot, and a left hook to try to knock me out. I said to myself after that 1st round ended, "I'm not getting paid for this kind of war". and, got out of there.

And even with Ali, he didnt really knock him down, it was more like George slipping and falling down. And he wasnt beat it was more like a loss because of stamina and motivation
