A rugby hero if you were a boy in his era. Great determination and never took a backward step to anyone.

Grant Batty 5 ft 5 and 11 stone. He would have been small for a winger in any AB era but what a mighty player he was despite his size. Fearless tackler and a brilliant attacking wing who was never outplayed by any opponent. A near crippling knee injury ended his AB career in 1977 aged only 25.

Bruce Robertson. My god what a footballer.

Totally agree. He scored only three Test tries, but a lot of others were scored because of something that he set up.

I remembered when he Coached U15/16 A his sons school at Churchie in Brisbane and yes my side did beat his side once but got beaten bad the following year and as a Wallabies and Reds Supporter this one of a few All Black greats I have respect for.

Such a damn shame that injury ended his career. These days it probably would be day surgery to fix him up. He was my hero when I was a kid

As fast as if not faster than Gerald Davies and David Duckham - that's how good he was. He was a tiger on the field, and off it he was and is a perfect gentleman and a credit to sport everywhere.

the rules and style of play today will never see players like this again. Diversity in player size and shape no longer exists and the game is poorer for it.

Great player. He got into trouble with the law for urinating on a bus after a game while drunk.
