Hi, thanks for the great instructions! My Epil 7 got tangled in clothing and since then only turns 1/2 a turn then stops and has a horrible sound. So I bought a spare head. But the problem is still the same! :( Does anyone know what I could do? I have noticed that the hexagonal plastic pin ( gear?) That spins has a corner rounded off, so I am wondering if its just worn and cannot grip properly? Is that a piece that can be replaced? Thanks!

HA HA it is funny you did not mention RIFA "The killer of electronics" at all. they should all be replaced on sight!!! There is also many Chinese re-labeled caps to watch out for I seen like for example Dongbao or Tiapeng which can even be salvaged old caps that been re-labeled and sold as new or used in super dodgy "new" products like power supplies etc. or ChongX, ChengX and many others alike may be a pure disaster. I many times seen pure copies of Rubycon or Nichicon that even have the same font and everything that is falsely labeled as the real thing and even looks the same if you don´t look close but don´t meet any specs when tested. I also seen caps like Ruby or nichicon that is the real thing but a cheaply requested product for example the Xbox 360 that is failing all together because it is meant to be cheap and life limited. also keep in mind that I also seen MANY caps start to leak electrolyte due to age from the 90s and back with many being Nichicon or other better tier brands so be careful, I seen my own motherboards almost be ruined by good caps leaking, even Quantum and other hard drives have leaky caps today. never trust old caps, NEVER. they will fail in one or another way. pretty much the only caps I trust most in is Rubycon, they really stand out in quality as long as they are made with their own "secret recipe"

Great info! I think you should have included Fischer and Tauche, or T&F, as they're known in Europe. They're a German manufacturer of high quality high voltage electrolytic capacitors. They're largely known in the vacuum tube guitar amp field but I'm recapping some CW ham radio transmitters and am using T&F capacitors because it's hard to find axial electrolytics with high voltage ratings.

Samwha are Korean caps and are well made and last a very long time. I have some that were in a infinity beta digital 300 amplifier and lasted 27 years, before I recapped with the same caps. Hopefully I get another 27 years.

4:30 that's a Panasonic FC series, not M series. Great caps, very popular with the audio crowd. My only complaint would be a low hour rating for many values.

The ROHS formulas for the chemistry......first thing I look for in the spec sheet is rated hours. The "NEW" chemistry is suspect and a whole new ballgame specially with the fiasco with the "brown leaky caps" that plagued the computer motherboards......it was all Asian rim origins with electronics and parts with China as supplier of the ingredients....think chemicals, and if they supply with pure or adulterated chemicals or dilute.....as opposed to a non Chinese chemical supplier and quality control when accountants push price and thus China wins ! When you deal with solid state and an electrolytic becomes a signal capacitor/filter for signal...as opposed to power rail duties......there lays the problem with solid state and ever degrading chemistry. I'm a vacuum tube guy, so other than a cathode bypass...its all Power Rail for electrolytics in my arena

I had used Panasonic bq-cc16 smart & quick charger since 2016. I used this rarely. Sometime i noticed some short-circuit sound while connect for charging. But in 2022 same happened and this time it burned. Burned its IC. Because of the complicated pcb, I believe it is not an easy to fix it to working condition. So I kept a side. I was fan of panasonic products. I was owned mixer grinder,ac, dvd player and this charger too. But most of them have quality issues. They become fault in PCB. So I decided to look other brands aswell. Note: they won't make any performance issues while on its working condition. Problem in poor PCB's

Ok so I refit a Sherwood Newcastle amps capacitors. For the main filters I used some jccon caps. When I got them they felt heavy, no rattles ect, and they have been fine. Can't find much info online about jccon - you any clue if they are any good? They were affordable compared to other brands. Enjoyed your video 🙂

My DTV set top box stopped working when a cap failed. All the caps in it are "Sunvika", ie inferior Chinese garbage that doesn't even make your shit list. I got on Mouser and ordered a set of quality low esr caps with the longest hour ratings they had in stock to replace the whole lot of 7 electrolytics I pulled.

@theoneohmresistor
@theoneohmresistor 2 жыл бұрын
Mulitmeter and a resistor/other load, but there is different chips, and there is a good chance that you dont need to do that step, just put the battery in and charge it to 100%. If the runtime is alot shorter than when the epilator was new, you will need to discharge it... Keep me updated!

Sure, fine if they're made to spec. Then these Chinese outsources can hold onto their contracts. Otherwise, the Chinese (and Chinese owned controlled cos in Malaysia or wherever) cut every corner there is.
