I agree about being able to reserve…it is about a 2.5hr drive for me and besides the Buckeye Trail there would not a lot of other options if there were no sites open. However, I still really want to see it in person and will just have to take the chance one of these days. Thanks for sharing!!

Ok, thanks for commenting about that. The cottage company gear made in the US is definitely pricey. Was my guess that the naturehike tents are popular in the UK correct? I'm only basing that on what I've seen on KZbin which is admittedly a small sample size.

If you look at the weight vs the price then I think it is a good price for a free standing tent. Yes, there are many tents that cost less but they will come at a weight penalty. Even with this tent, you can get the polyester version for $90 or less but it is a pound heavier.

@personaltimeoutdoors
@personaltimeoutdoors 6 ай бұрын
I've never been to one of those YT meetups but I'm guessing they are just kind of ignoring that rule. Each site has a sign with a "moon" symbol on it that is supposed to designate the cat hole area. Apart from the sign, the area isn't really defined. To be honest, I had the same thought as you and was afraid to go digging in that area, lol. I only had to dig one and I just wandered deep off the trail instead. The moon sign by site 4 was right next to a really steep drop off anyway. I don't see how it would be a good idea to climb down there to dig a cat hole.

I’ve been tossing the Scout around in my brain for a while now and you’ve just convinced me to pull the trigger on it. The most informative video I’ve found on this pack and you’ve addressed my two main concerns: the side pockets interfering with the water bottle and the lack of waist pockets. I do have two questions: Are there any compression straps on the sides? I love the ones on my current pack, but my current pack doesn’t have side pockets, so I could see that maybe being an issue. And also, some list the pack as a Scout 3400, while others list it as the Scout 55L. Do you know if they are identical packs? Perhaps one is an older model of the same capacity? Thanks for the great video!
@personaltimeoutdoors
@personaltimeoutdoors 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching the video! There are no compression straps that would allow you to decrease the size of the pack for a small load. I noticed the same thing you did about the name. As far as I can tell, Teton Sports just changed the naming. My guess is that they decided to specify the volume in liters because that seems to be what the norm is these days in the industry. To me, photos I've seen of the "55L" look identical to the 3400.
