These ARE relevant: I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American, male, heterosexual, and solidly middle to upper class. I learned this song in second grade. Well, when I got to middle school, a GROWN man said that this song makes him cry. Why is that? I also heard that this song "connects with certain ethnic backgrounds." How? If I'm broke and in California or Atlanta, longing to get back to Seattle, that has nothing to do with my race!

Great job!!! 🎉🎉🎉 I really enjoy your versions of those new wave artists songs from my generation. You've got me going back, and taking a look at some of those songs to add to my Acoustic list....very soon. Been playing "Father Figure" by George Michael(great on Acoustic) and "What might have been" by Little Texas too. My favorite I've added recently is "If you leave me now" by Chicago. Killer song, and sounds great on a single Acoustic guitar!!! You're sounding great!!! Keep on pickin' !!! 😊🎸👍💯🥳🙌 BTW: "I can't make you love me" by Bonnie Raitt sounds incredible on acoustic...so does, "Just a song before I go" by Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Wonderful rendition Brenda. I loved PP&M's version and the Journeymen do it well too. The extra verse is welcomed and fits perfectly. I remember how Bobby Bare's version started with "Teardrops fell on momma's note, when I read the words she wrote.. Anyway, you have a new subscriber here and I still love listening to folk songs.
