However, I do have to admit the Fort Myers area isn't exactly the most hurricane proof metro area. Much of North Fort Myers, Iona, the Smuggler's Cove and Sanibel Outlets area, and San Carlos Island, are flimsy mobile homes and mobile home parks. What we call a hurricane disaster waiting to happen. The vast majority of single family homes have gable roofs, some are of wood frame construction. And extremely few if any roofs have slopes of at least 35 degrees or steeper; I've seen roofs with slopes of as shallow as 5 to 10 degrees! What we call airplane wing roofs waiting to lift off in a hurricane. Hip roofs are very rare in Lee County. Even a few hotels aren't exactly built to survive hurricane winds. The Outrigger resort doesn't have a strong roof, and it also has plate-glass windows instead of the more common car windshield glass windows you often see on most other hotels, residences, apartment buildings, and businesses.

I live 14 miles inland and wasn't scared of Hurricane Irma's storm surge. But other people were so paranoid, they were fleeing like the storm surge was going to submerge Atlanta to over 100 times the height of the Pencil building and even put Denver, Colorado under several miles of water. People were evacuating to Canada, Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, it was crazy.

@@conord1081 what do you mean "is it a good thing?" Are you asking if the swimming area is good or if it's a good thing they have a designated swimming area? I would say the swimming area is decent, and it's good to make sure people aren't swimming in other areas of the lake. They do skiing lessons so there are motorized boats around.

This is a very old video and things have changed considerably since this. Most of the items that are said to take to recycling centers will no longer take them.

Which items do you think are not recyclable? Food and Soap containers, cardboard and clean paper still all have value.

@@davejaye1057 I believe practically everything can be recycled in one way or another. The key is finding a way to make it have value enough to do it. Personally I lean towards a form of conversion turning it into energy. All plastics and paper is made of base carbons. Those can be converted into useable energy. The problem is the disagreement on best how to accomplish that.
