Agree with you 100% - spring summer 2025 was better than fall 2025 too. So many outer offerings in spring it seems mostly a season-less collection.

Yup! Some of my favorite pieces have been from spring/summer. A lot of the super heavy outwear pieces aren’t really useful in California. Besides that, I feel you on the season-less opinion. So many of their “lighter” jackets can be worn year round.

Sizing on the Virgil is TTS. However, I purchased them a size bigger in a US12 because I was able to get them on sale.

Sick! Glad you were able to visit. I plan on trying to go this year. I framed them with some Ikea frames in an oak wood. I believe the size is 16x20”.

@ you totally should especially their Tokyo stores… although I prefer Kyoto as a city in general for its overall shipping experience. At the store they told me the different processes the boots go through with like photos and samples too over a coffee from their in store coffee shop 🤣 Japan is something else! I had a feeling they were Ikea! Great idea

Do you foresee the aging and cracking of the leather eventually shortening the overall lifespan?

Yes, I do. However, I can repair the upper as well. For now, I do my best to condition the leather when needed and will continue wearing them for as long as I am able to!

Yeah, I think it might be due to current trends with western customers. Some of it is tasteful, sometimes it’s a bit much. I can see why someone wouldn’t like it.

Thank you for sharing this story. I really appreciate this sort of content, especially when it's highlighting something as special as VISVIM. I'd love to hear more about any conversations you had with Hiroki. I've been curious to ask why he moved production to China for most of his footwear. Although occasionally, he still still drop a pair of something that still is made in Japan. The last one I got made in Japan was the FBT Sashiko. I love them to bits!

Thank you for tuning in! The conversation wasn’t that long. We only met at the Carmel opening. Based on what I’ve discussed with people and what I’ve read online, the move of footwear to China had to do with the fact that the factory he found was one of the few in the world that could manage the production quantities and quality while maintaining the handmade good year welt.

I have a different ICT version that is a darker brown with significantly more mud dye. The only negative is that the leather on the tongue appears to be bubbled and slightly dried out due to the mud.

I love the look of the darker leather. My two boots have the same issue, the leather is dried out. I have you use a leather conditioner much more often on that pair.

These are softer, but it’s a different feeling. The Birkenstocks use cork for the midsole while the Christos either use the EVA or leather stacked midsole. Both are extremely comfortable!

Besides the styling, this boot is taller, less wide, slightly shorter in length, is about an inch taller in the heel and uses a custom vibram outsole vs the dainite in the Poundmaker.
