My family lived in Wrightsville in the 80s. We had a lot of pride in our little town at the time. Cruising around town on Friday nights and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons was how we would hang out with our friends. We would shoot pool at Gilley's and yell at each other from the sidewalk out front. Another cool place to hang out was at the American Legion where they had dances on Saturday nights, a pool in the summer, and roller skating. Several of my friends worked at the Dairy Queen which is now a vacant lot. After I graduated, we moved to Florida. I still have many friends in Wrightsville and many memories. Thanks for the video.

My husband and I live in Bowman and we love the peacefulness of this little town. We both grew up in small towns in NE Pennsylvania so we love small towns. There is still a payphone on the wall of the one building. The little building next to the tracks use to be the police station until the bank was robbed twice by someone on a bicycle and they never found the person. Now the police have an office inside the bank. If you drive around the side streets you'll see some beautiful old homes. It's really a unique town.

“ me again,Margret” Ok I am the one that grew up in Piedmont. I now live in Cedar Bluff which is just across the lake from Centre. Centre is the county seat of Cherokee County so that explains all the law offices. Even though the city is now wet, The county is still dry. That old middle school was the high school first and that field was the football field. The lake is big and man made. The Coosa River runs through it. The traffic is always heavy during the summer starting on Thursday afternoons. The by-pass that y’all didn’t make it to is extremely busy during those times. We are a weekend tourist town with many Georgians coming to the lake each weekend. We have 2 water towers. And the best hamburger that I have found in town is at the donut shop, oddly enough. We actually have an operating drive in movie theatre. You would stay on the road (411) in front of the courthouse going toward that nice law firm. Just keep going about 2 miles. We have a bowling alley and lots of karaoke places. One of Our Mexican restaurants has a buffet. We have a local fm radio station. Btw, the old middle school has been torn down now. Across the street from the old school they are currently building a new courthouse. The old one is nice to look at from the outside but the inside is falling apart. The Jail storage units are right in front of the jail thus being the name. The pub has a good salad. We have lots of downtown events for holidays and the Christmas light are pretty. 411 yard sale comes through here every year. They start setting up about a week early, some even earlier. Most people here are lake people. There are two neighboring cities, Cedar Bluff and Leesburg. The three cities are almost like one. Leesburg even has a Waterpark. A waterfall and rock climbing. Some of the movie “Failure to Launch” was filmed there. The gas station called Coosa Corner in Leesburg has some southern cooking and pizza. Outdoor tables. So glad you came. Y’all come back, you hear?

Grew up in Piedmont. Many generations of my family did. I still have many family members there. I go there weekly. I now live in Cedar Bluff. Piedmont does not have much employment opportunities. A lot of drug addiction and widows. But they are trying to revive the downtown area and it has improved over the last 10-15 years. That bike trail actually brings in a lot of people as well as “floating the creek”, there is also a mud crawling place that just booms every weekend. That small gas station is owned by a local family. They also ran several other ones in neighboring towns and still have a few. I used to do her hair. Lol. Sweet lady. If I remember correctly, Piedmont started the bike trail and now it goes to Georgia and at least to Anniston. I never saw y’all go by the old high school which is the middle school now, but it is a neat old building. There are several tales that I have heard all my life that I am not sure if they are true, but worth looking into. I’ve heard that Jacksonville State University was suppose to be in Piedmont but there was some big racial injustice that moved them to Jacksonville. Piedmont has turned Walmart away multiple times, I personally am glad they have. You also should have turn left in front of the old small gas station, Young’s, that would have took you right in front of some of the nicer older homes. We used to have a hospital and skating rink but now like a lot of other small towns we just have multiple Dollar Generals! When I was growing up we had a downtown street party, that I can’t remember what it was called, but everybody went. The roads were blocked there was live music and a greased pole to climb. You could pay to have someone “arrested” and then they paid to get out. It was fun. We are also known as housing one of the most notorious drug kings, Chandler. That was a big big story. There has also been several missing people and tales of terrible murders. Next time, you should stop and talk to some locals. As teenagers we would going “riding in town” we would make a big “8” from one end of downtown to the other. We would park in that WM grocery store parking (more lovingly formally known as Lively’s) lot facing the road. In fact we would park in multiple lots and gather and hoot and carry on. It was fun. Eventually, the cops put an end to that. Also the big ole factory you spoke of is the cotton mill, now there’s a sore subject. That eye sore has a vindictive reason for still standing. Across Ladiga, there is an ordinary house that goes all out with Christmas lights and corresponding music. It is worth your drive to come back and see. Next time try the other coffee shop and the new pizza place. Glad you made this video. I forgot to mention there is an old Sears and Roebuck House. If still stands . It is near the fireball. Also that “cute” firearms store is also a fudge shop. I find this so funny . Fudge and guns, all your basic needs
