I went to Walmart and looked at a, $2.99, on sale, Dora the Explorer watch. I tried it on and I came to the conclusion that all I needed to do was ask anyone I saw, with a smart phone, “Excuse me, what time is it?” What a revelation as I just saved 1/2 the price of a Starbuck’s Grande Mocha. You overpaid for your San Martin. Watches are wrist jewelry, preforming a function, that long ago, was replaced with more accurate and better options. Never meet your grail.

I have noticed this week that Ali Express is flooded with Pagani watches at roughly half the price. When you click on one of them you will see they are being shipped from Turkey. Now there is a real irony here in that Pagani is the main manufacturer of 'tribute' watches from China. I doubt very much if the Pagani watches from Turkay are genuine so I would advise people not to buy them.

I have a Armitron Skeleton watch. It was the first watch I bought myself when I got a job. Still have it. Still runs and keeps time. That was over 25 years ago.

Nice collection. The g-shock was the only one I disliked. (Can’t hate on it. I’m just anti-digital.) From major budget homages (Yeah, Berny! I’m wearing mine this very moment!) to some pretty pricey looking elder statesmen that I didn’t recognize. Not exactly eclectic. Only one I’d call bizarre. But varied. Tasteful. Chronos, divers, sports, dress. Did I not spy a field watch? Or did it just not hit my radar. I think you and I have similar tastes in this arena. For which you should be applauded! 🤣 all the best!

I'm retired Army and have shopped at the PX/BX since 1973. I have found good bargains for jewelry but I haven't had your luck watch shopping. Just not enough discount compared to Walmart or online retailers, even considering the lack of sales tax. Maybe I will look again. But the 50+ mm designer watch will never be on my wrist.

There are no luxury watches at the PX which is a bummer. Most of those you can get at the Walmart too.

any Elgins at Eglin?

I was in the Navy 77-81 and kick myself for not buying Rolex/Seiko/Omega... watches every other month. I didn't drink, smoke or anything else - I had the money.

I did 22-plus years in the Air Force and was stationed at Eglin from '77 to '82. I may have worked on that F-15 behind you, was there when the 33rd transitioned from F-4 Phantoms to F-15 Eagles. I got to go back to Eglin TDY in the late '90s and the BX really was upgraded from the time that I was Stationed there. Eglin is a terrific base for those lucky enough to get assigned there. Brother those price are a scam even with no sale tax, I'm a watch dealer and I can buy every single watch you showed for a least 30% less expensive and still make a profit. When I was in Fort Jackson in the 80's our then called PX was truly a heaven for purchasing electronics, I purchased a Casio calculator watch for $12.99 and it costed over $50.00 dollars in malls!

The Bertucci in the poly case extremely light, the straps on the Bertuccis are some of the best made. Its avalible in stainless steel and titanium with Japanesse or Swiss quartz mobements which are far less noisey than those used by Timex in their entry models. Timex vases are also usually plated brass under $100 mark.
