My 2007 Highlander had the same clear coat issue. All of a sudden the clear coat on the entire car started to peel. Ive heard it is an issue older Toyotas.

I bought a 05 v6 loaded with 98,000 miles on it from a ford dealership down the road from me as a "as is" I did a break line and the 100,000 mile tune up . For the life of me I can't figure out why someone traded it in . I can't wait to put antique plates on it .

Still very useful since they point outwards in a direction the other lights wouldn't.

Obviously the comment was from someone with a broken timing belt. Any engine will die if you skip the maintenance. There are good things about timing belts: no risk of timing errors like on fords due to timing chain stretch

@@DeadOnTrail You wheel pretty hard don't you? We do pretty mild stuff and spend a lot of time on highway so the Toyotas work great for us. The 392 definitely looks really sweet though. You're right though. If I drove one, it might ruin me haha.

Other may have added that on newer model years (on the GX470, all years) A-Trac functions as a kind of front and rear locker via the ABS system, since the center locker only locks front and rear axles, not left-right differentials, like, say, a Toyota Tacoma with a rear locker would do. So, a GX470/Sequoia/4Runner isn't quite mechanically as stout off-road as a Jeep or Toyota with a rear locker, but it adds back a kind of locking ability through A-Trac. My GX has done wonderfully off-road, and A-trac is a lifesaver.

Welcome back and congrats on the upcoming addition. You’ve been around a while … disregard the keyboard warriors. Some people are always grumpy and wanting to spread bad vibes. I have two points of wisdom for you. 1) Travel light with your newborn. You don’t the need biggest and most massive accessories. I used to run errands with a few diapers in one cargo pocket and a sandwich baggie of wipes in the other, and a change of clothes in the car. If you run through those, call it a day and head home. LOL 2) Don’t change your hobbies for the baby. We resumed camping when our youngest was 6 weeks old. We moved to a larger tent, that would hold a pack-n-play, but we kept on traveling. To this day, our kids still love the camping environment. Best of luck with everything and post videos when it feels right.

There was a different engine/product generation between the two but I mostly feel like we just got unlucky with the 08. Haven’t heard of many problems with that year.

Yeah, I feel like a lot of us with Sequoias in real life and on KZbin eventually starts eyeing the GX460 and LX570. Myself included. Good to see you back! I'd be super curious to hear your experience of the newer ATRAC on the GX460 vs your Sequoia. I've never tried the newer versions so wonder if you will notice the difference on your level of trips.
@TheFraziers
@TheFraziers 28 күн бұрын
That might be a hard comparison to make. Unfortunately, the ABS and traction control systems on our sequoia have always been really unreliable. The vehicle seems to be eternally plagued with wheel speed sensor or gyro sensor issues despite having replaced a lot of those things. That being said, I don’t know if ATRAC has kicked in even one time in all our years using the Sequoia so I don’t have any tangible experience with it to compare. Our long travel rear suspension also keeps the wheels on the ground so well that it hasn’t been needed at any time. From other anecdotal experience I’ve heard, ATRAC on the Land Cruiser vehicles (GX and LX included) seem to be the best available, even better than the 4Runner. I have no idea if there’s any scientific evidence for that, it’s simply what I’ve heard. If for nothing else, I expect it to be far better than the Sequoia.
@andyloucks
@andyloucks 28 күн бұрын
@@TheFraziers Yeah that's my expectation as well, just that ATRAC works better and faster on the newer and more premium LC-based models. I think I've seen you comment on GX460 OFF-ROAD as well, and seeing his experience with ATRAC makes me wonder. But I just took my 2006 Sequoia on a super muddy and snowy trip offroading in the creeks here in Alberta and even then the ATRAC barely had to kick in, or at least I rarely noticed it.
