Thanks for the video, I've had a K1000 forever, and I recently found an ME Super. Does the ME Super have to powered on before the lens release button will depress? While I'm waiting for LR44 batteries to arrive from Amazon, I cannot get the lens off. The release won't depress. So just wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.

From what I have noticed, the trend is leaning more toward Retro Digital Cameras. Digital Cameras with all the Knob Controls on top and the body looking like a film camera. Apparently, the public is bored with the 'Same Old Look' of all the recent Digital Cameras on the market for the past 20 years. Fuji is stepping up their game with those now.

I love this system. The quality of most lenses is very impressive and very affordable. With a digital back . I would not immediately recommend the 55-110 AF lens. The lens is not sharp and the colors are a bit flaky. I think the weakest lens of the range The ease of use of this system is very impressive. The autofocus is accurate, not fast. Center oriented only. If you want to use a Mamiya DF system with a digital back, I recommend the Mamiya 645 DF II or the phase one 645DF II. Because this has more extensive menu/setting options, and can get more options out of the digital back

Hey please help me out. I'm thinking about getting my first analog camera and i'm in a doubt between the Olympus MJU ii or the Yashica T3/T4. I can pick up both the olympus and the t3 for around 200$ second handed, whereas the T4 is 300$. Is the T4 worth the 100$ more or should i just stick with the T3? and should i pick the T3 over the MJU ii or not? i'd appreciate a reaction from someone! :)

I bought a MR9 adapter for the battery and the line goes above the black box. Is this good? or too much voltage?
@Kamerastore
@Kamerastore 11 күн бұрын
Make sure to set the camera to 1/2000s shutter speed and 100 ISO! It can be slightly above the box and still give good enough results. When using a standard SR43 battery & the MR-9, your voltage curve will be a bit less linear than it would be with the old mercury batteries. So you'll end up with a bit too much voltage at the beginning, a good amount for most of the battery's life, then a a bit too little voltage towards the end. In any case, you should be fine to trust the light meter as long as the check needle is relatively close to the box. Thanks for watching! - Connor

Do I have to turn the film advance lever every time I take a picture?
@Kamerastore
@Kamerastore 11 күн бұрын
Yes! The film advance lever moves the film into the right position (it needs to move out of way of the previous shot or all your photos would be on the same bit of film!) and also preps the shutter! There are attachments you can get called Motor Winders that will automatically advance the film after each shot, though! For the X-700, you'll want to look for Minolta Motor Drive 1. Here's one from our store. Just got my first x-700, I have a question for the viewfinder section of this video! You mention in manual that you will not know the shutter speed selected, but then when talking about it later you mention it will show you the shutter but not the aperture. This is just a little confusing to a newbie! Mostly because I’m not sure what exactly I’m not supposed to be seeing lol? Thanks!
@Kamerastore
@Kamerastore 11 күн бұрын
Hi! Sorry for any confusion! The X-700 has a few different exposure modes that cause the LEDs in the viewfinder to act differently. I'll try to summarize: 1. Manual mode - The user picks both shutter speed and aperture. In this mode, the LEDs on the right will indicate what shutter speed the camera's computer WOULD pick based on the given lighting and aperture selection. Choosing the shutter speed is up to the user, and there's no indication of what shutter speed is currently selected on the physical dial on top of the camera. So you have to take your eye away from the viewfinder to confirm/change the shutter speed. 2. Aperture-priority AE mode - The user picks the aperture setting and the camera picks a shutter speed. In this mode, the LEDs on the right side will indicate what shutter speed the camera will pick when the shutter is fired. It calculates this based on the current lighting, the ISO of the film, and your selected aperture value. 3. Program AE mode - The camera picks both the aperture and shutter speed. In this mode, the LEDs will also show what shutter speed the camera will select. There won't be any indication of the aperture that the camera will select, since the lens' aperture has to be locked to its minimum setting to activate program mode. So basically, in all modes the camera will tell you what shutter speed it would select. In manual mode, though, the camera doesn't tell you what shutter speed YOU have selected on the physical shutter speed dial. This is noteworthy because it means you have to take your eye away from the viewfinder to see it. Future models (like the Minolta X-500) fixed this issue. Hopefully, that helped! Thanks so much for watching. - Connor

@Kamerastore
@Kamerastore 12 күн бұрын
It's true! Point-and-shoot cameras are always a gamble, as are any electronic devices made 20, 30, or 40 years ago. But it's a bit more complicated than that, and the industry has evolved a lot in those 10 years, too! Prices of the 2000s and 2010s (for film and cameras) were the signs of a dying industry. It wasn't sustainable like that. Prices weren't high enough for Kodak, Ilford, etc to stay in business or for camera stores to survive without diversifying a whole lot. Many didn't survive at all. The prices today signify a healthier market in general where film manufacturers can actively reinvest in production and film-specialty stores can exist. The popularity of some of these cameras has even led to the growth of a repair industry for them, with some people even manufacturing new parts for common issues. So it's perhaps a bit safer now than it was 5 years ago to buy something like a Leica Minilux. The growth of the film photography industry is super interesting! Thanks for watching. (-: - Connor

I noticed when in program mode, if I move the aperture setting around, the green P doesn’t blink to signify the lens isn’t set to program mode. Should I be concerned about this? I was just testing it to see if it’s functioning properly..
@Kamerastore
@Kamerastore 12 күн бұрын
Good eye! I would just do your best to leave the lens at its most narrow aperture (where the program lock is/would be) while using it. While it's all in program mode, you can make sure the aperture is capable of changing by shooting it facing a dark area and then a bright one. The aperture should be different. At the end of the day, these are over 40-year-old cameras filled with electronics so there's always a chance of some unusual behavior. Hopefully, your camera is still capable of all its automated functions! Thanks for watching. - Connor

Not sure how this isn't widely hailed as the best manual SLR that's ever been produced (with the exception of the FM3a which is basically an FM2 and an FE2 hybrid). I've not shot EVERY vintage slr out there. But I've owned many of them and have messed around with my friends cameras. I also did a lot of research before I finally settled on the FE2. I've owned Pentax, Minolta, Canon, and Contax. Then shot Olympus for a LONG time (still own an OM-1 and OM-2n). I realized about 6 months ago I've never owned a vintage Nikon. Did a couple weeks of research and videos. This one stood out as the highest performer without getting into the auto world of film SLR's. Hands down in my mind the most capable. And if you prefer manual, just shoot this manual. The metering through the viewfinder is so much better than the FM2. Even if I always shot manual, I'd choose this over the FM2. I just like the meter in this more. Aperture priority is just a huge bonus.
@urwholefamilydied
@urwholefamilydied 14 күн бұрын
1:34 the manual states you can use two Alkaline-manganese 1.5 volt batteries (LR44)... OR, you can use 1.55 volt silver-oxide batteries, which I've read have a slower discharge curve.. basically they hold that same 1.55 volts throughout the life of the battery and then drop off pretty quick and die. The LR44 is a slower discharge and the voltage drops off more gradually. (I'm not explaining it well... this is from google: The 357 is silver oxide and rated at 1.55v, while the LR44 is alkaline and rated at 1.5v. The silver oxide lasts 30% - 100% longer and puts out a more constant voltage, until the end is reached at 1.2v vs 1.0v for alkaline.)

I’m completely new to this and this might be such a dumb question. But while shifting on my aparture ring, i can’t see any of those ”metal blades” that can clearly be seen in the video. Why is that? Is my aparture ring faulty or am i stupid?
@Kamerastore
@Kamerastore 15 күн бұрын
Not a dumb question at all! If the lens is mounted to the camera, you'll only see the aperture blades when you fire the shutter. Take the lens off the camera and the blades should close down (-: The camera holds the aperture open when a lens is attached because it lets more light in this way. That makes it easier to see through the viewfinder for focusing and composing. If your aperture doesn't close down even separated from the body, then it's possible the lens isn't working properly. Aperture mechanisms can get quite sticky and oily over time and many vintage lenses haven't been repaired or maintained for decades. Hopefully it's not that, though! Thanks for watching. - Connor

Hi I have a question! I just bought this camera as my first ever camera! I'm in Tokyo and taking a lot of pictures. I'm a bit worried though because I'm about halfway through the roll and I noticed a change: when I first advanced the film at the beginning of the roll, the left dial spun a good amount as I advanced it (the dial that if you pull up on it, it opens the back of the camera). But now when I take a picture and advance the film, that dial spins much less than it first did when I was taking pictures. Did I make a mistake and now the film isn't advancing as much as it should? Or does that happen as the film goes on? Thank you!
@avebave6550
@avebave6550 19 күн бұрын
Hi again! I'd like to add to my question: so I finished the roll, took all 36 pics. I then held the tension button down and spin the lever. It took a while, like it must've been at least 30 rotations of the lever to finally roll the entire roll up. This worries me, is this normal? It could've been like 50 rotations tbh. I'm afraid the film didn't pull across enough when I advanced it and I just have a bunch of bunched up pictures on one 3dge of the film. Thanks!
@Kamerastore
@Kamerastore 19 күн бұрын
Hi! I would not be too worried. The rewind knob moves according to the advancing lever. So as long as you push the advance lever to its full extent and the rewind knob moves accordingly, you should be sorted. Let me know how the images turned out. :) -Tuomas
