Anyone have an idea why my door opens as soon as I run the level instead of waiting for the button interaction? Other than that the button itself seems to work as the camera switches to the door (which is already open for some reason) and then I have a 3 second blend while it returns to the player. I did have to add a character player to the return view or else the camera returned to the middle of my player instead of the head. I put a player start in front of the door and I can see the animation of the door opening works, but I need it to wait for the button press, any ideas?

you probably won’t see this but if you do, would this work if say i’m driving a car and i’m going 100 mph and i pass a tree. would it make the sound you’d expect it to when you pass the tree?

The old marketplace was organized and easy to navigate. This new "Fab" is a hot mess. I don't even visit it anymore. I use cgtrader now.

any way to do this in runtime in the blueprints? I wanna be able to lower the texture resolution in my game by pressing buttons in a user interface widget and lower the resolution real time, everyone says to use the execute console command sg. TextureQuality 0 command line but that causes texture streaming pool issues, any help?

A good technique for setting screen size is to zoom out LOD0 and switch between LOD0 and LOD1. Once you can't really tell the difference between the two LOD's, you take the current screen size and set it as the screen size for LOD1. The repeat for LOD1 and LOD2. Zoom out LOD1 a bit. Switch between the two. If you can tell the difference, zoom out some more. When you can't tell the difference, set the current screen size on LOD2. And so on. After the first few, you can usually halve the screen size if the triangle count also goes down by half. You can then set it to Auto in the LOD selector in the view and zoom in and out. If you can't see obvious detail shifts, you're good to go.

Thanks for the Tutorial Matt. But do you think it is practical having 2 Mesh running on tick for game performance. and for a more practical scenario where we have to use BASE Class blueprint for multiple childs (as in multiple enemies, npcs) and call Mesh Component in Blueprints. Having TWO mesh will really mess up any other component, Spawn actors needed to attach on the mesh.

Thanks! Very straight forward and flawless. I spent days trying to get this done on my own and ended up with a jumbled mess, a character that face plants when she lands, with arms that occasionally flip out and point backward, IK feet that do not work...the list continues. All the workaround I tried were mostly ineffective. After watching your tutorial, I only tried it once and bam! The end of frustration, frantic attempts to pull out my hair that were really shaved off and the relentless utterances of very colorful words. Thanks again. I have to say that this whole character re-targeting business in Unreal is rather convoluted and needlessly elaborate. In Unity it is simply “Make Humanoid, assign root...the end”. However, when things are finally working as they should, the gratification is a hell of a drug.

I’m trying to create an intro cutscene to my assignment project. I have the sequencer set to run an event in my character blueprint which then runs the cutscene. That is working. I have two lines, one set to happen after 2 seconds and the next after 10 (set to 8 in the data table). Right now, it only plays the first line until the second one is supposed to appear, but the second line does not appear. Any ideas?

I know this comment will never get seen, but how does this solve replicating text on actor begin overlap? You explain the steps to trigger it for an actor overlap, but what you show literally just shows its still triggered when "E" is pressed. All you did was move the create widget/ add to viewport into your actor BP, but ALL of that is still getting called when E is pressed, NOT triggered when actor overlaps. I'm almost convinced this is an accidental mistake you made
