Id think the tail light would light up the license plate enough. Also you guy get screwed over there the plates are huge. 😂😂😂

Helpful video, thanks. Two questions: I'm currently fitting an R&G tail tidy to my 300L; what are your thoughts on how to fit a reflector (a legal MOT test requirement I think), and is it possible to acquire a smaller (legal) number plate in the UK, if so, how small? Thanks.

I went with the YSS shock and must say it is very disappointing. It works well when cool but fades badly as it heats up. If you mainly trail ride I would recommend against this shock. I also bought the YSS open cartridge fork kit. They don’t tell you that if you install the kit your warranty is void. Also the special tools needed for installation are not included and the installation instructions are incomplete.

Did the original clamp actually fit? It shouldn't because they are different sizes. Also, the o2 sensor unplugs at the top, so you don't have to twist it.

Are there any 2nd hand options off another bike, like an old dirt or road bike? As an example, I had an old GS500F & that had limp noodles for springs. The forks needed new springs; but for the rear I simply swaped in an old R6 shock. It was cheap ($100 delivered) & an amazing improvement! Is there a suitable donor for the CRF300?

I took mine out to flackwell heath and it was bottoming out everywhere, considering I weigh 65kg it was a bit pants.. for me I felt it definitely needs suspension looking at if I was to continue doing my.. Great review though, it was good to get a another opinion..

You say Brooks ships worldwide, but disallows Philippines access to their website? I wonder why? I would love a YSS shock for my 250L....OMG the OE suspension is atrocious. Anywho....thanks for the info guys. :)

Steer clear of Nitron. The shock is severely under dampened and the adjustment favours the rebound 10:1. Also the Customer service is terrible. I am currently trying to return my R1.

Cooper Grease isn't right for this application, it's used on bolts where you have two different metal touching, high temperature and fixed, not moving joints. There are Needle roller bearings on lower linkages. I would recommend bearing grease, it's usually dark blue. Also, for our biker that are ridden through water I would recommend cleaning and greasing all of the linkage from time to time. It's not a hard job, but it's essential for suspension to work correctly, and mostly overlooked by amateur riders. I didn't want to sound criticizing, I guess and I guess any grease is better than no grease.. Happy New Year

@@Matt-xi8zrI finally figured it out and couldn't be happier with my suspension today. I went with a 15% firmer K-Tech fork spring and the K-Tech Razor Lite shock. Only cost around 700 dollars for the parts and was pretty easy to do. I made a bunch of videos about it including installation videos. I love the way it turned out!

@@cyclerider5652 Hey thanks! I’ll check out your videos. I got my 300 rally less than a week ago. The soft springs are already a bit of a problem.

@@Matt-xi8zr You're welcome. This is what I did. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJvEc5h5n9eDeas It worked out great. I also have installation videos. The shock is simple to install (two bolts). I didn't change the fork oil since the bike was new, so it was pretty easy to do the fork as well. Only one fork leg has a spring. The other side is for the dampening which I didn't touch. If you pull out the old fork spring really slow, you won't lose any oil. It's really thin oil and drips right off. The dampening function is in the other fork leg anyway. No more hard bottoming and the difference in overall handling is absolutely amazing.

I never found the Dep exhaust system on my browsing for a new exhaust, but I was looking to keep road legal and the only option I found on that was the Arrow, would have kept the stock for longer but its already got a hole in it! Bit the bullet, just today, for a complete Arrow system, I have the rally, I asked Arrow Italy if their 300L kit fits the Rally and they replied "we haven't tried it yet" but Peak Motorcycles has done it so I went for it. Damn expensive at 900 quid odd though, but what the Mrs doesn't know won't harm anything - DR Bikes gave me the option to include a note in the box saying "Congratulations on winning the Prize" it won't effin rub with her but will make me feel better because I've already paid for it and it won't turn up for six weeks 🤣🤣. Anyway, good video Sir, nice and clear, let us know how it goes after the mod. Edit just realised how old this video is lol... how do these buggers know I just spent cash on an exhaust and that it would be a good time to remind me there maybe other options.... crazy world this you tube stuff

Can someone explain to me how braided hoses would avoid going across the cockpit? They still need to reach across to the other side and be flexible due to being mounted to the brake on the fork ... I don't get it. 😕

Thank you very much for sharing your experience! After upgrading the suspension, is the bike capable and sturdy enough to use it regularly (moreless once every two weeks) for training and having fun in motocross track? Not competing, just for going at good pace and having fun. I believe that between low maintenance bikes it's the closest one to a proper motocross bike on the market, maybe even better than the Ktm 690 enduro (mainly because of the weight difference), but please tell me what you think about it. For me it would be a dream going to the track near home without purchasing any cart or pick-up, without caring too much about maintenance and even carry a passenger when needed! It would be truly a "do it all" motorcycle. Thank you in advance for your advices!

We'd always recommend trying it first before spending out, it may fit your needs as is dependant on what riding you do. We upgraded the shock first and made it better, but would be better still to do the front as well if able. Happy riding.
