romac macros are the only way to go. anything else is chinese junk worth their money in gold. all we use is romac lockrings and macros. hy-max is junk torque them to spec they leak everytime. spend the extra money and skip megalugs lockrings wont blow off and no break off bolts. block your macros tight

Do you fellas often lift with the teeth of bucket ? I’ve seen a 2 dollar keeper fail and tooth come off. That machine has a quick coupler for the bucket correct ? New viewer and now a subscriber. I do this work often and neat to see it from a different perspective
@Sy-Con2 күн бұрын
That’s a good catch sir! We don’t do it often but we didn’t have an 18” pipe clamp on hand, with most of the local distribution networks being 12” and below. On our machines we have quick connect to drop the bucket, and usually use a Clevis and pipe clamp! Thanks for watching and the comment my guy! Merry Christmas!

The problem is, the misalignment of both pipes means at least one of the buried pipes was structurally compromised under soil beyond the excavation site. This was the second band-aid on a hemorrhage.

Would have to agree with you. We under city direction, we did offer a more thorough solution. They went the cost effective route. Needless to say we will be working our thru trying to help with more permanent fixes!🤙 Merry Christmas!

Looks to me like the bolster concrete shifted away from the elbow from the water momentum at the 90. I wonder what stress the upstream (away from the highway) line is under? I guess that will keep the Sy-Con team busy next month!
@Sy-Con3 күн бұрын
We were under direction of the entity sir! We did offer to replace the entire 45-foster application. They went the most cost effective route. We hope this is more permanent fix, but we are in talks of other areas that have been problems since install of the line just 4 years ago by an out of state outfit. Kicker was still there for the 45’s. When the line was installed there wasn’t one placed. City had to pay a contractor to come in and install one. Thanks for watching! Merry Christmas!👊

Did anyone scope the pipeline to see if the pipe was offset further down the line to ensure the offset pipe issue wouldn't develop again?

We didn’t sir. That would be up to the city… We did offer a solution to replace the entire fitting situation, but they wanted to go the most cost effective route.

I wasn’t impressed by any means… being in the contractor side, we normally don’t get outside of the trusty long sleeve much. 🤷♂️ that was the city’s repair. In there defense they are a 4 man in the field op, and they cover some ground. Did there best! Thanks for watching! Merry Christmas!🤙

Ya they need to be longer. We use these yellow romac fittings. They got a nice little handle on top even.
@ADWRTG3030Күн бұрын
Have you guys ever played with the Alpha couplings? They are similar to those blue things but with joint restraint. I know the coupling can hit different pipe diameters. Like if you are emergency repairing ductile to and old steel line. I’d like to get some and try them out, but can’t beat the low cost and reliability of the old long sleeve!

In Canada the trades are dead. Mass immigration is destroying wages and companies are making sure tradesmen know they are easily replaced with the TFW program. I think the avg TFW where I work is making around $21/hr. Try to compete with a new 20's immigrants for speed and heavy lifting when you hit your 50's and 60's. The company hires one older trades person to teach all the new immigrants what they need to know and he's the only decently paid worker. When young Canadian workers want to get into the workforce that is what they compete with. For every job there is an entire planet of cheap labour at company disposal with our open borders. Heck we actually have Khalistani immigrants saying whites don't belong in Canada and it is THEIR country now. So that shows what future Canada has. If you research the Temporary Foreign Worker program you'll find that the government increased TFW's in the trades in recent years by 4000%. Shows what direction wages are going here.
