I really wanted to love this pattern & the tutorial (both the video and written instructions upon purchase) but it is very difficult to follow. Instructions aren’t detailed enough, and the zoomed in video angles make it difficult to see the exact orientation. I’m really disappointed.

I use mine for big projects. Otherwise, I fell or french seam or just zig-zag with an overcast foot. Just as durable and way less hassle. What I do use a lot is my coverstich machine. How I got into T-Shirts and other knits I'll never know...five kids and 6+ grandkids, maybe?!

I love your shirt you’re wearing with the square neckline! You did a great job on your husband’s shirt. I’m a beginner to sewing, I’ve made a few dog bandannas, a couple baby blankets, and a few aprons. I’m enjoying it so far, I would love to graduate to making my own clothes.

This did not work for me. It just sewed a flat basting stitch.

Oh no, I'm sorry! Perhaps play around with the tension to see if changing it on your machine will help.

Hey! Love this pattern, ordered it a while ago! Was wondering how would i create a neckline that isnt as deep? For more modest girlies❤ Btw, you are super talented!!!
@RooneySewingPatterns4 күн бұрын
Hey, you're so kind! This is an easy fix, you'll just raise the horizontal line on the square neck as high as you'd like it to go. Then, do the same for the facing to match the bodice piece :) Let me know if you have any questions!

All of your pieces came out amazing- and that accomplished feeling you describe is so relatable! Sewing is hard, focused, creative work- but so very rewarding. I’m a new sewer, and my first project was one of your maternity dress sew along videos! I’m sooooo happy that at age 35 that I’ve finally learned to sew, fulfilling a long time dream I’ve had of making my own clothing. Hopefully my skills will be good enough to make things for others soon too 🤍And I’m incredibly thankful to you because your video that was my gateway project gave me the confidence to continue, since it went so well. I was amazed I could actually WEAR my very first home sewed piece. I’m working on my fifth project now, all have been dresses so far because those are my favorite, and I’ve worked at a pace of one per month since learning. I have that same fabric your dress is made from on my favorites list of Blackbird and seeing it made into such a beautiful garment has convinced me to add to bag! ☺✨

I love this video so much! I can totally relate to the fear of making a garment for your husband. There is just something different about the fit and structure of men’s clothing that is so intimidating. My husband keeps asking when I’m going to make something for him too 😅. Also, the smocked dress that you made yourself is gorgeous! I love the fabric you used and the smocking detail is a beautiful touch.

My mom has 3 sewing machines. One of them is modern and has all sorts of features to it. One belonged to my grandmother and hasn’t been used for more than a decade. The last was purchased recently for the desk it came in for $15. In doing that, we accidentally ended up with the beloved Singer Touch and sew. We didn’t even know what it was till we looked it up. That got me interested, and I pulled out my grandmothers old machine, which is also mounted inside a much smaller desk. It’s a Singer 5107, and I’m a drive belt and bobbin winder tire away from having it completely cleaned, oiled and functional. I’ve adjusted the tension on the bobbin and gotten it stitching properly just hand cranking it and I’m very excited to try it out on a real project! So far this whacky journey has lead me here where I’ll fuel my mini obsession till the new parts arrive 😆 The machines themselves fascinate me, but what you can do with them is just as fascinating. I haven’t had a place to share my excitement, so I figured why not here.

Hi there! I’m having trouble understanding around 2:30 where you are pinning the lines of the bias tape together. I’m not quite sure how to pin and then sew the seem. Could you elaborate more on that?
@RooneySewingPatterns17 күн бұрын
Yes! So with the lines, you want to fold the fabric where the lines are meeting and then move the right side until the lines meet the second row of lines on the left side. So it will be offset by one. This video may also be helpful for you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4fWhWp3fch-lZI
