I got a Samsung and we were frustrating for so long about the UB code error and the washing machine not able to spin correctly. Always out of balance... I have drilled several hole all over the plastic ring and this was the problem. Water stock inside this ring was causing the top section of the barrel to get out of balance everytime. It was happening with the self clean cycle without any clothes inside ... We will never buy stuff from Samsung again. Poor design from them.

I seriously thought this was an elaborate trolling move. Drill holes in your $600+ appliance and turn it into a brick. Then I was at my last straw on my washer with the Ur and Ub code. I was literally ordering a new washer and they were going to charge me $50 to haul my Samsung away so I figured "what the hell" I drilled the holes and water flooded out. It's been running fine ever since. If you were having any second thoughts let me help you. Do it. It works.

I was extremely skeptical about this fix because it sounded too good to be true. All I can say is “thank you!” I didn’t find this solution anywhere else. Drilled the holes a week ago and have not had an out of balance load since!

Thank you so much for this. My washer has been out of balance for months and this did the trick. My husband was about to call a repair guy too. I literally was able to do this fix in 5 minutes it was SO EASY to do.

What a great video my friend!!! After changing the rods, calibrating the washer, leveling and removing the loads for almost a week, finally we were able to do laundry after this simple hack. I did notice the water at the top of the drum but I couldn't find a way to flush it. It's hard to imagine that with all the engineers working in the design of this machine, no one could prevent this issue. I guess they're just thinking about taking our money from our pockets.

Be aware that the liquid that comes out when you drill the holes has something dissolved in it that will leave a residue if you let it dry on any surface of your washer. It may be laundry detergent, I only know that it tasted salty and left a residue when it dried. I put a large beach towel in the bottom of the tub to soak up the water since I didn't know what it would do to the washer components if allowed to drain as a tub of wash water would. Also be sure to RINSE THE LIQUID OFF YOUR DRILL CHUCK, dry it off, then spray it with WD-40 or something else that will displace the water. Otherwise it will corrode and potentially ruin your drill. I ruined a 35 year old Craftsman drill because the liquid corroded the steel chuck so much that I could not turn it with the chuck key. Tried several sprays of penetrating oil, but no luck. Other than that, it did fix the problem with the washer.

Did this on my Samsung washer the other day and it seems to be working great now!!! A ton of water came out. What a terrible design! Didn't replace any other parts. Suspension rods are $80 each and there's 4 of them so I tried the drill first. All good now, thanks.

OMG!! I have been dealing with this issue for over a month, had someone come look at it, replaced the circut board $200, and was ready to throw the thing out the door it still went un balanced. Decided we were buying a new washer in the morning and was very angry this one is only 3 years old. We figured why not lets try it. I put in my King size bed spread KNOWING that it would make it unbalanced. OMG it works!! went through the whole cycle with ABSOLUTELY no problems, know I am doing a normal load of clothes that has jeans and towels and again it worked!! My husband can not thank you enough ( Of course it not working was his fault lol)

I can’t believe all of you had luck with this. I’ve tried everything too and finally drilled 8 holes in my balance ring exactly how this video described. Now it’s so out of balance I’m going to buy a new washer…and yes, I already changed out the rods/springs.

Pretty sure this video just saved me hundreds. I was getting ready to replace my p.o.s. Samsung because I had already tried everything to get it spinning again and decided to drill the holes because I had nothing else to lose. Now I have done a couple loads and it's spinning out without problem. Thanks for posting this!

I just did this a few days ago and waited to reply. I tried the machine's self calibrating feature which did not work. And I replaced the suspension rods with the "upgraded" ones on Amazon. None of that worked. I was ready to just throw it out and buy a new one even though this one is 3 years old. This worked. I drilled the 8 holes evenly apart. Ran the machine empty on 2 spin cycles and everytime it stopped spinning water would come pouring out of the holes I drilled. I then spent time manually shaking the drum back and forth to try and get all the water out. I have not had one issue since and we have ran about 10 loads so far. I tried looking on a parts fisch to see if you could just replace the water balancing ring but I could not find one. Maybe you have to buy the whole tub which would cost too much. If I can find one I don't have an issue replacing it as that should also fix the issue. Looks like Samsung discontinued multiple parts for the machine I have WA50R5200AW. If you can find the whole basket you have to replace the whole thing now. Pricing any where from 300-500 plus install costs if you cannot do it yourself.

@pdruryiii
@pdruryiii 6 ай бұрын
I am sure they would be against it. But this works and I don't have a warranty left. Plus it appears you have to buy the whole tub to actually fix the issue and that cost just as much as buying a new machine if you have to pay someone to do it. So at that point who care's, if it don't work you would probably be buying a new one anyway.

After changing the rods and putting rubber pads on the feets, we still have the out of balance problem. About to give up and buy a new wasger. Tried this fix. This worked. First I drilled 4 holes, even spaced. Some water came out. Shook the drum and felt there were water still inside. Drilled 4 more. Water still inside. Seems to have multiple "compartments". Finally, drilled a few holes. Total may be 12 holes. I did a SPIN cycle for a minute to spin out the water. . Then stopped the cycle. Calibrate the washer. Then I did two small loads of bath towels that had been giving us out of balance error. Both washes went through. Thank you. Update: 10+ loads later. No out of balance error. We will skip the labor day appliance sale this year.

I'm late to the party but YES!!!, this really did work. I did the 8 holes with a slightly larger drill bit (1/4" drill bit), which I think it accelerated the draining of water from the ring. It was good to go on the first try. My thoughts are of poor engineering and testing.

We were about to buy a new washer and my husband kept looking for fixes for out of balance and not spinning the water out of our Samsung washing machine. He found this video and did it and it is spinning like it is supposed to now with no error codes. Thank you for this video!! It worked! We had already had new suspension rods put in and it still gave error codes afterwards.

It works! After months of frustration, we were just about to buy a new washer until I tried this fix last night (6/30/2023). I drilled 8 holes into the top plastic skirt of the drum just as the video shows. Sure enough, water poured out of each hole after drilling. The water had been trapped due to it crystalizing after 5 years of heavy use and was no longer able to drain out of the designed drainage slots. Apparently, there must be a balancing sensor monitoring the moisture in this plastic skirt. It can provide false readings when water stays trapped in it. Who would have known? I tried replacing the computer board and all 4 suspension rods and none of that worked but this fix did it! Thanks!

okay, i would first like to start with i am VERY mechanically inclined, and this video seemed ABSOLUTLY ABSURD.... how ever, my mother has a very similar style drum machine as my samsung, much like the man in this video is explaining.. and they spent SO MUCH MONEY over the past 10+ years trying to remedy the DC, ERR, drum beating around like the guy on the garbage can in the band slipknot (watch a video if you dont know lol) and to no avail, the problem pursists... i have slowly developed the drum beating around like the slipknot member is playing live in my laundry room, ive looked at so many schematics and designs of these types of drums and have deduced that THIS MAN IS ABSOLUTELY correct, your washer cleaner never cleaans through the very small to begin with inlet and outlet of this drum "balancing" water jacket, again, it senses to fill with water under pressure (unbalanced) and is of no use, drilled holes up top, never pressureizes, no water jacket fill, no problem. I literally just did this today and like most people said i had the three circle impressions fron the plastic molding, drilled the center of these and three inbetween them (marked the center of the circles with a line on the face of the drum to where center was) and boom, literally just did a perfect load... also the reason you use a 3/16 drill bit is that is how big the water jacket is itself. my samsung model number if anyone was curious is WA456DRHDSU/AA and was manufactured on the first month of 2014, only sharing model number as i couldnt find mine anywhere online... but if you have this drum style DO THIS RIGHT NOW I BEG YOU!!!!!!! AND THANK YOU @Extremeineveryway SO MUCH!!!

Replaced suspension rods for $120, made no difference, i kind of knew the rods probably weren't the issue as the old ones were still quite stiff (springs). Googled and googled after spending hours trying to get the machine to spin a load of washing without the dreaded UE every 5 seconds, i literally spent hours (over many loads of washing) watching this POS washing machine try to spin my clothes and adjusting the load manually over and over. There's literally not much else that can really cause this issue apart from either the balance ring or suspension rods. I was at the stage where i was going to chuck the machine and get a new one anyway so i drilled the holes, at first just 4 because i thought there might only be a few chambers. That didn't work so i drilled another 4 or 5 and water kept leaking out. Now i've done my first load that finished successfully so thank you OP, really appreciate your help. BTW, the saline solution will leak all over your drill when you are drilling the holes so if you have a good drill and a crap one, use the crap one.
