Wow, that was really amazing! So good with your explanations what you are doing when. I'm just starting with live looping and this is very inspirational and helpful! Thank you!

You use amplifier or speaker ?
@oliverkeysmusic
@oliverkeysmusic Ай бұрын
When I play live I use an Allen and Heath mixing desk into EV powered speakers. For this video I went straight into the computer with no external amplification.

Hi Oliver , You use some preamp

Hey Katherine, at the time of this video I didn't use a pre-amp. But since then I've been using a Fishman Aura on my pedalboard to increase the quality of my acoustic sound through the PA. In this video I used a compressor, the JHS Whitey Tighty, and the signal was sent straight to my computer through a Focusrite Saffire Pro40.

Oliver! thank you very much for the information on how you use that magic board. It was extremely informative and also shows that it's not easy to put these gems together. I'm still working on chewing gum and walking at the same time. I listened twice. Once to try and learn something and then another time just for the sheer auditory sensations. Time well spent both times. Another great song. Thank you very much. kevin O'Rourke

Thanks so much - I know it’s a lot to take in all at once, the fundamental though is to time your ‘in’ and your ‘out’ to be perfect - I’m not sure where you’re at with your journey :)

@@oliverkeysmusic In terms of my overall journey Oliver, being an avid coffin dodger, I'm nearly at the end of the the "BIG JOURNEY". Lololol. However I live vicariously through musicians like you. People like you keep me young in mind and heart. Music today is a fascinating to me as it was when it swept over me at about age 14. The first Record that moved me in the way only music can, was a song By Del Shannon called "Run Away". I was hooked. Thank You for what you do and know that I am lifted to greater heights when I watch your videos. kevin O'Rourke

Oliver, you are one of the most underappreciated musicians that I know of. This video was a masterpiece of the merge between tech and talent. You are so gifted and I can tell you worked very hard to enhance that gift. Good work. kevin O'Rourke

Oliver, you are such an amazing talent. I'm old, but I'm trying to learn how to use tech to enhance my sound. It's challenging at my age (72). The possibilities seems endless. I love everything you do. I know that music is the place you live, but maybe someday you could put on your professor's hat and teach an old dog new tricks about looping and how to go about it. Great video and thanks for posting it. kevin O'Rourke

Great work! What are you using to switch your mic output?
@oliverkeysmusic
@oliverkeysmusic 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Sully, up until this weekend I have been using a Loopi Pedals Mic Toggle (www.loopipedals.com.au/product/microphone-ab-output-switch-pedal/), and it works great except that it clicks when you switch the outputs if there's phantom power running through it (and I need that to power my DI in a live situation). I have now replaced it with a Stompbeat Permanent Mute (www.stompbeat.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=59) with an XLR Y adapter. The Stompbeat actually runs its LED on phantom power which is great, but when I'm unmuting it to send it through the RC300 I have a duplicate signal through my PA which isn't ideal either. Ahhh the fun problem solving in looping. The Loopi Mic Toggle is perfect if you don't need phantom power.
@oliverkeysmusic
@oliverkeysmusic 2 жыл бұрын
I've gone back to the Loopi Pedals Mic Toggle. The duplication of the vocal signal with the Stompbeat Permanent Mute was just too hard to manage live. I bought a passive DI and now the Mic Toggle is working perfectly.

This is great Oliver. I'd love to see a video of the breakdown of your rig. I'm fascinated by what can be done with looping. As a coffin dodger (I'm 71 yrs. old) I never had the advantage or the know how when I was a young guitar player. I wished I had but it's never to late to learn. (at least that's what they say) my wife would differ with that statement I think! Great work and wonderful vocals.

Hi Kevin, thanks so much for the kind words. I'd be happy to make a video of the breakdown of my rig. I know that each person that gets into looping varies a little in what the way they operate, but there are also some constants. It's definitely never too late to learn and I'd be more than happy to help you along in your journey :) Now that I think about it more, I might need to make a series of videos to cover all the elements. I love nerding out on things!
