A bit of Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber, a bit of Stand By Me, who knew they were friends?
This is one of the more complex looping songs/mashups that I do. Lots of dancing on the pedalboard required. But it always makes audiences happy, especially when Stand By Me kicks in. Filmed live in one take in the Big Chief Cinema.
For the gear-heads, the main stars of this mashup cover are as follows:
- Boss RC-600 (of course)
- Boss OC-3 (for bass octave drop)
- TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 (for auto vocal harmonies)
- Keeley Caverns (delay and reverb)
- Loopi Pedals Mic Toggle (to switch the mic from looper to desk)
- Fishman Aura (pre-amp and acoustic mic simulator for DI)
- Tighty Whitey compressor
- Yamaha Reface CP (best Wurlitzer emulation in my opinion)
For recording:
- AKG C414ii (lead vocal, side by side to my Sennheiser gig mic to capture a clean signal alongside the Harmony Singer without phasing issues)
- AKG 214 on the acoustic
- Vintech Audio 473 preamps (1 for the AKG C414ii, the other three to separate channels 1, 2 and 3 from the looper and give them some good crunch)
- JLM Audio TG500 (AKG C214 acoustic mic)
- Vintech Audio 573 (Acoustic DI)
- SSL SiX CH (Sennheiser gig mic/Harmony Singer)
- Focusrite Saffire Pro 40
- Reaper DAW
Enjoy!
