Bon jour mon ami. These bikes are superb. You can still get all of the parts for these easily. They are quite cheap to buy and maintain. They ride brilliantly, I love them. Cost for one at the moment in England (may be different in France) is about £1500 - £2000 for a nice one in good condition, about 1995-99. And, yes they are brilliantly reliable. Let me know if you need any help or info

With the pipes, could you cut and reshape the originals and just add the existing connector to it? It looks like they can be loosened and removed from the pipe?
@RestorationBiker
@RestorationBiker 2 күн бұрын
Yes you could, but if you are 'removing' the ABS you can get rid of so much unnecessary pipework. Makes it much easier to bleed too with less pipes for air to get stuck into.

Thanks. I was thinking of cutting the pipe to the correct length and just moving the connector to the new end and then getting rid of all the other pipework like you said.

@@mattwilson6276 Yes, I used to make brake pipes all the time for cars when I was an MOT tester. The two little pipes that are needed for the ABS removal as I showed in the video would be dead easy to make. Perhaps I should make some and sell them on ebay!!!

@RestorationBiker 7 күн бұрын
Hi, When you put the bike on the centre stand and get someone to lean on the rear so that the front wheel is off the ground. The wheel should easily fall from lock to lock with only gentle persuasion.. If it doesn't then the fault is either in the top bearing, or the lower joint inbetween the fork legs. I have done a video on changing the top fork yoke bearing, not yet done one on the lower bearing as they rarely need replacing. If this all checks out ok then the problem, will probably be in the tele-lever set up at the rear. I think it will be one of the bearings though. Have a look and then get back to me, and I will help you.

@RestorationBiker
@RestorationBiker 9 күн бұрын
You are mistaken, this is not fake! You need to watch all the videos in the Suzuki GS500 series. They show the bike as it was bought. All the various stages of the rebuild were shown too. Yes the cost was much more than what the bike was worth, but that is WHY I do motorcycle restoration. Because I LIKE to rebuild things for the pleasure of the rebuild. I don't do it to earn big money. To me there is no point doing a bike like the Suzuki GS500 if you want to make money. You would have to do a Suzuki GT750, or a Kawasaki Z900. Neither of these bikes I want to restore, because they are for the greedy type of restorer. I am a motorcycle restorer, I am a retired motorcycle mechanic who likes to do a nice job, purely for the satisfaction of restoring the machine. Look at some more of my videos before you make a judgement. There are a lot of fake restoration channels out there. This one isn't one of them.

I am buying a 2004 1150rt tomorrow. I have not seen it in person yet, but this video really REALLY gave me some peace of mind. I have been on,around, working on, cleaning bikes since I was a kid and I have never owned a BMW. After a million videos, I arrived at the conclusion that this model would be a safe bet. Fortunately, the bike only has 24 thousand miles so, other than the normal, and in addition to the rubber, I cant think of anything else to check. Thank you again!

The first time I rode one I thought "What an old tractor" But I had borrowed the bike I was using which made me feel like that. When I gave it back and started riding another bike I really missed it. So, I bought one. Now I have owned loads of the oilhead bikes. I think they can't be beat. Buy it, ride it, and see how it grows on you. Fascinating vid. As an old Biker/ Non stipendiary Priest, I have found many interesting items in Churches. Two near me in Norfolk are ! In Downham Market is displayed a Venetian glass chandalier from the 1700s found hidden in the bell tower, no one knows how or when it got there. 2 in Stow Bardolf Church, also from the 1700s, there is a waxwork funeral effigy of Lady Sarah Hare, very life like and in a glass fronted case, it has given a few visitors a bit of a turn when they suddenly come across it in the vestry.

Just up the road at Leiston, is the Long Shop Museum which is sited in the former Richard Garrett and Sons former Works. The Museum has a number of artefacts related to Zeppelin L48 including original material and personal effects, and items fashioned from airframe aluminium. During the first World War Garretts ceased manufacture of agricultural steam engines and manufactured munitions and parts for the Fe2B airplane and it was one of these airplanes that took part in the encounter with L48 that led to its eventual demise.

Really enjoyed that recollection because it brought back so many memories of my own very similar test. With the two part test looming I knew I needed to get last walking man test to avoid all the nonsense. I had already completed the rac/acu training scheme at walsall council yard . I was only 16 so I did the moped version on there Batavus go go . For my test I planned on using my Honda c50 super cub fitted with 70cc head barrel and piston. Honda Cubs were always motorcycles not mopeds with one tiny exception they did a fully automatic moped version the c50lac. I thought the examiner might say no so had my brother waiting across road with a Honda cb125s but not a problem examiner was happy with the mighty cub. Obviously slow control with him walking fast and slow was comical with no clutch. The emergency stop was easy because I only got up about 20mph but don't forget the crazy leading link forks I at too contend with. My brother said I was riding for less then 10 minutes, think the old boy just wanted to get out the rain and end this fiasco. I like too think he could see my incredible talent on a motorcycle as I'd been riding for years and the rac/acu training was intensive and very good. So test passed bottom fell out the 250cc market...... nearly new KH250b4 @ £150 but that's another story.
