It doesn’t matter if it’s new vs old brass or straight wall vs bottle neck run it through the sizing die and trim using a trimming tool also remove any burs from the case mouth, A lot of newer semi auto pistol chambers aren’t as forgiving when it comes to case overall length.
@allthingsconsidered3211
@allthingsconsidered3211 16 сағат бұрын
I agree. It sucks to check every piece of brass though, every time. So if I do trim my cases, I trim to the middle of the salami spec. For 357 sig the max is .865”. So only a few are actually over length. I’m going to run an experiment to find out how much they grow each firing, if any. 357 sig max pressure I believe is 40ksi so it’s getting into rifle pressures.

I have 6.5 creedmore brass. But my Lee C model press that I broke (brass got stuck in the die) but have not been able to size the shoulder to fit in Sheridan case gauge. I think I need a breach lock press. I am using Lee equipment
@allthingsconsidered3211
@allthingsconsidered3211 Күн бұрын
The lee press should work. Not all 6.5 brass will work. Make sure to use hornady 6.5 or winchester 308. You’ll have to bottom out the die on the shell holder. It will be just at the Sheridan’s max using lee shell holders and lee dies. After fire forming it will be easier. Make sure to use imperial wax or lee lube. Sorry for being so late

My experience is that when resizing Hornady brass, about 1/2 of them will fail the gauge after seating a bullet. I have mixed feelings on turning the necks, as it takes quite a bit of brass off to remove .001"-.002" on the neck. Gorilla sells brass at a reasonable price that doesn't need to be resized. There is another company that does it, but I went with Gorilla as they have been good folks to deal with. Gorilla sells subsonic bullets also.

What load are you trying to use? For 330gr cast hollow points, like in this video, I like a light charge of Imr 4227. I’ve switched to buying Boudreas bullets. 405gr cast. They are cheap and currently in stock, .32c/piece . Imr 4227, 27gr, 2.04” (for info only, please work up your own load to ensure safety)

Yes most…even the Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor brass sometimes. .366” is Q’s spec and even the Hornady brass expands to .365” - .366” when seating certain bullets. KM Machine makes an excellent neck turner that’ll take care of that easy but make sure you get the negative .050” neck tension pilot. You can get by with bumping shoulders back .005” +/- and that helps get it through the Sheridan gauge test most of the time.
@allthingsconsidered3211
@allthingsconsidered3211 Жыл бұрын
Yea, i spent all day one day reading the forums to find out that. And q’s loads are a little hot. Ppl also recommended certain trimmers, i already forget. Dont know if it was km? Reamers. And kissing the shoulder. Carbide pilot on the trimmer. I also saw some ppl got away with pushing the speer hot cor 225s to max loads, bit im weary bc these tech arent bonded and would ruin my linear comp/ brake. I ended up bluing a cart for contact and the bullet is seated too far out. I bumped back and they fit the gauge. I might try these for fire forming bc i dont have a neck trimmer or reamer yet. Thanks for the tips and happy loading

@@allthingsconsidered3211 I only use copper monolithic bullets. I'm primarily interested in hunting though, so have specific needs. I'm looking at standardizing on either Barnes 210 grain TTSX or Hornady CX 225 grain. I have subsonic for home defense though. Pity an intruder...If the suppressor law is overturned I would hunt with subsonic using a suppressor.

Some experienced shooters caution against using cast bullets in the 458 SoCom if it is in an AR platform, as lube may possibly clog the gas port. I can't verify this one way or another. It would certainly be fine in a bolt action or single shot.
@allthingsconsidered3211
@allthingsconsidered3211 Жыл бұрын
I have heard that too. Also lead gasses can come back too. Shooting a cmmg 22 conversion kit in a 556 could do the same thing bc most 22 are lubed lead. I however have never had an issue or heard of someones tube getting clogged.

might be a mistake to use 308 win brass, the dimensions are different between them and 6.5 Creedmoor, which is why the 6.5 Creedmoor was used as the parent case. Check the shoulders. I had some Lake City 308 Match brass and couldn't get it resized enough to be functional. Your brass is most likely different but you should check it out to make certain for yourself.
@allthingsconsidered3211
@allthingsconsidered3211 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, ive found most 308 have too thick of a neck after forming onto 8.6. But found win brand, win308 is just thin enough to not req neck turning. The brass usually gets thicker from the neck to shoulder to web to case head. With 308 your “new” neck is formed lower on the case where the brass wall is thicker.

Yes 308 win by winchester has a thin enough wall to req no neck turning. If you dont anneal or size twice, any case is gunna be a tight fit. Maybe bc the brass is stiff and springs back

Hey sammy, the 9 and 40 kit shpild be the same bc the xd 9 and xd 40 frame are the same. i still have my advantage arms 940 conversion kit. I think they call if the 940 because it is for the 9mm and 40sw models. I still shoot it on occasion. It is picky with ammo and likes high velocity. 1250 fps+. It doesnt like too much oil or being dirty after 200 rounds. But overall a great conversion kit

You can use a sharpie to draw any circuit youd like or design one in eagle or something similar. You can also use the sharpie to touch up your mistakes. the toner or sharpie protects the copper under it from the acid etching solution. Once all other copper is removed, besides the now hidden/protected copper traces, remove the toner or sharpie with alcohol or acetone

Tape is only adding .003” not .020”
@allthingsconsidered3211
@allthingsconsidered3211 2 жыл бұрын
You are right. I misspeak multiple times calling it 20 30 thousands in this video. Thanks for catching. For others: Invisible/scotch Tape is about 2 thou or .002” per layer. Most headspace specs allow for .010” from min to max. (You should look it up for the caliber in use) Min is “go gauge” + .000” “No go guage” @ +.004” “Field gauge” @+.010” You can stack the layers of tape and measure the overall increase in length. 2-3 layers on a go gauge usually makes a no go gauge. I like using a go gauge to measure headspace as well. I recommend removing the ejector and extractor and using a blue sharpie/bluing on the shoulder, not top, of the go gauge. By Adding layers, and checking for rubb off marks/interference. Hopefully this helps ppl out and save money. Hope you have a great day.

Handload Subs with cfe blk. w/o adjustable gas block. Carbine length gas. No suppressor. 16”. Might be a little shortstroking. All together Meaning this ejection is tough bc of the little amount of gas pressure, but seems to work with this powder only and would work great with a silencer

I made a couple mistake and mispoke a few times. Some bigger ones i noticed were during the inert gas law. We do know the number of moles / weight of gunpowder. You would have a high temperature in the beginning and a low volume high pressure. And a low pressure higj volume low temp at the end. Relatively. The presure*volume goves you psi, just like the stress equation below. Then when i mention calc, it would give you a better result at any point within the system and allows for more complex equations. I choose to do “shapshots” certain distances/ given variables/barrel length/volume and used simplified equations.

It is a dewalt drill model dw995 and a portercable battery pack model pcc680L . If you look into the bottom of your drill where the batter pack is inserted, You want to look for the blade connectors, there should be 2. If there are more than 2, you can run into issues with electronics and it wont work without further mods. (Over temp sensor, balancing)

Wow thats alot. You could teach me some things with 80. I just got my first roo. Hes coming up on a year old now. 12 hens. Do you add any supplements like alphaha cubes, flock raiser, dog food? Mine free range prob 5 days/week and are cooped with a run for the other 2 or more. What about feeding treats/scratch? Meal worms? I just have one hen who used to love the crumble, kids used call her fat fat, but now she refuses the whole grain feed and is thin and stopped laying. (Swtiched to a mix of flock raiser and the whole grain 50/50, cleaned the coop spotless and added a small light, laying again now) So what do you think it was, she just being picky(others slowed too), artificial light, or dirty coop? Thx. Only had my chickens for 2 years now and the pullets laid well throughout everything. Thx for commenting and watching the vid!

This momma is the best. She adopted some day old chicks and raised them herself. She stopped laying while raising the chicks, which is normal. After reintroducing her into the flock, a week or less later she was showing interest back into the egg box, pacing and squawking loudly around it. I placed her in my chicken carrier so she could lay in peace. She was making the others anxious. When I found her, she popped up and showed me the egg, acting proud I gently tried to take it from under her and she NUDGED it back under her 😍 This is where the video starts
