@supersport1986
@supersport1986 19 күн бұрын
@jimclark5250 it probably would be easier in that being 2wd biggest thing is if you can have a running doner vehical, a welder some steel, time, determination, the ability to make what you don't have instead of buying custom stuff because that gets very pricy, and to know not to cut any wires and label everything wiring related in both trucks as you pull it apart once you start hooking stuff up then you can cut wires and make your connections. I see so many people that hack everything out, then have no idea what to do to put it back together and just end up doing a hack job on the wiring and throw part store guages in and have a pull cable to shut it off. Your truck has all the necessary gauges and sensors init that make your factory stuff work. You just have to figure out how to incorporate that onto the cummins it's rather simple, really. Mine was a very cheap swap for me, but I had a running doner that had been my daily. Best of luck to you if you have questions about whatever hit me up and I can try to help

Be glad that you don't have the hybrids. Same problems but with hybrid batteries. We have all three models, none are anygood. Plus it doesn't help that they get abused and wrecked. Miss the older utilities. If you want to do a fun job replace a steering gear on the hybrid model. No room unless you drop subframe. All the hybrids we have changed the belt tensioner. You get a restart performance code. Now we are getting a lot of transmission problems now. These utilities make you want to quit being a mechanic. All the ghost codes, lack of service data and just cheep parts. Be glad to see these units gone.

well… thanks to your video (I found a day too late) I ONLY spent $300 😅 I brought it to a local mechanic that my sister uses. He asked how much $$ I wanted to spend on labor ($100 an hour) before he would call me and ask if I wanted to continue I said 3 hours. He never called until he had 6 hours into it and said I’M DONE get it out of my shop 😂 He was trying to locate a harness that was totally plug and play which since FORD doesn’t complete the connection front to rear (which blows my mind) the least they could do is offer a plug and play. I found a twin turbo 2021 with 2k miles it was in a wreck left rear quarter panel and hatch was swapped out. I assumed because of the wreck that mine was unplugged and hoped the wires were still at the rear somewhere and decided to just pay someone to figure it out. The night I got it back I found your video. I just found the four wires (I don’t need brakes only a 3500 pound single axle trailer) 3 wires from one plug and tail lights from the other I bought a harness off Amazon for $25 that I was able to trim the tabs on the white plug with the 2 turn/brake and Ground and used the black one then snipped the wires off and they were barely long enough with a heat shrink butt connector I didn’t have to extend them BUT the tail light wire I had to add to from the other plug. Everything works perfect in both the 7 way and 4 flat without tapping into the back of the rear lights with that plug and play you bought. Thanks again for sharing it really helped me understand everything. Especially that it was all and not just mine because of the wreck. 👍🏻

Nice! Is there a reason why you used the clocking ring vs getting a GM tail housing for the nv4500?
@supersport1986
@supersport1986 7 ай бұрын
Yes, there is actually the length is not the same. I actually have a brand new gm tail housing in the shop that I ordered that would not work so that's when I decided to use the clocking ring and that worked out very well. The gm transfer case actually bolted right on the the dodge nv4500 but it had no drop it layed perfectly horizontal and that was not gonna work with my floor or the design on the transfer case
@AndrewKolonick

I was just about to order the gym tail housing and I saw that you were using the clocking ring. Good thing I didn’t. They have two clocking rings available. Do you know which one I need? Also I’m not an expert fabricator but I can weld pretty decent. Do you know of any drop in motor mounts that would work or do you think I’ll have to fabricate like you did? Also, I’m not sure how much difference it will make but I believe your truck is a long bed. Mine is a short bed. Otherwise everything is the same. Thank you for all the help.

@user-ze4jn3zf6s you want the driver side drop clocking ring and as far as motor mounts as far as I know no one makes anything for this era of chevy so you will need to build a set. and as far as the drive shaft what I did was set the engine and trans/t case in and slip the drive shaft in and set my slip shaft distance to what it was with the original setup and built my mounts accordingly obviously firewall clearance may be different for you with a 1 peice shaft and it may not be different so you will just have to see how that goes

Nice build. Everyone has told me I'm going to nee to modify the drive shafts and torsion setup. I have a 2004 2500 HD and I'm going to do the same conversion. Why did you need the tone ring?
@supersport1986
@supersport1986 10 ай бұрын
The tone ring was for my tachometer on my factory gauges to work, using the tone ring out of the duramax and the crank sensor wiring. Is yours a gas or diesel truck to start with? As long as your truck is a diesel to start with that helps because the torsion bars are already the hd version and yeah as long as you plan to run the factory transfer case your driveshaft will work now depending on what transmission your planning to use that can make or brake you. I have not heard of anyone making the allison work behind a 12valve without buying a conversion kit for the electronic side of things. There are some companies that make stuff for that. I would recommend not cutting any of your harness till you're putting each circuit to your desired location and labeling everything as you take it apart that will save you a lot of headaches in the end! If you have any more questions, hit me up. I will try to help as much as I can, guiding you at least in the way I did mine.

So is the 2020 3.3 PIU have a totally different PTU setup as say 11-19 gen? I have an on & off leak that not one dealer can truly pinpoint…awd alert comes on random too. But I was told it’s an old traditional style of transfer case, not the notorious PTU…

Yes the 2020-to current have a more truck based design with an actual transfer case with a front differential vs 11-19 which is based off of a front wheel drive design with the ptu (power transfer unit) we have had leaks on all our units with this new design and the fix is the same seals that have failed before are replaced with identical seals that will naturally fail again
