It has been a recurring issue with the '20-'21 models. The drive train is absolute garbage in em. Father just got rid of his '20 Explorer Limited at ONLY 12k miles because the transmission kept jerking, and, as you said, "Unsure of what gear it's supposed to be in." He's had every body style of Explorer since the late '90s, even the lemon of a 2-door Sport, and they've all been good to him EXCEPT for the '20. He got rid of it and picked up a '22 Timberline, and THAT thing has been great, all things considered. i love the Explorer, but these particular model years were a flop.

The transmission is an Aisin product, the leak is in the same place as the dodge durangos , the case is porous and the fluid seeps through. (land rover had a hack fix where you fill the back housing with epoxy) We have multiple 2021 interceptor ecoboost, No issues with oil consumption. We use Schaeffer Supreme 9000 5W-30 on 12,000 mile intervals (inspections every 3000). our vehicle are not shared. the muffler stains are soot from the exhaust. we use a Whelen Core to run the trailer lighting. it is only used for pulling a small speed trailer.

Thats dead now. Im on my 2nd p71 180 on it. (rust killed the last one) Im only clenching my teeth at the gas pump. ⛽️ But i guess life could be a whole lot worse.. (pmt + repairs + fuel) I kinda got an inclination a couple years ago when i drove through the back of a ford dealership & saw (no lie) 6 or 7 explorer's w/all different town names on them apparently all waiting to get work done on em. Damn i thought my eyes were deceiving me .. Honestly i think this throw away economy is part of it, but i also take heed from my job for instance which is aviation related, Almost All of the old school brains of the outfit have retired. Now i see all these young faces filling the ranks with no practical experience. They have no concept why you should service a transfer case. Or why you shouldn't design a internally driven water pump. and the $$ there getting for these things you think they would put better rubber in the shocks and mount bushings Would that hurt there bottom line that much. Im gonna have to stop wearing my ford hat now Go back to ol 43 STP baby Yah! Kirk Out !!

Josue Camarillo that may have alittle to do with it but I'm doubtful. We have 3 2020s and 1 2014. The 14 has been pretty decent not saying it hasen't had its fair share of issues. It is getting up there in milage and age. Our 2020s have recall after recall, and then leak after leak, cv shaft boots, shocks and there all low milage. The highest milage we have on one is into the 35k area the others are under 20k. Infact we just got another recall last week for the rear end possibly fracturing a bolt and the rear-end could disconnect from the drive shaft and cause a loss of control it's just crazy the issues that they have had!

I got a 14 PIU from a local used car dealer here in South Carolina just over 2 years ago. The dealer had the transmission rebuilt so I thought ok.. We're all good, nope.. The motor mount on the right side of the engine crapped out and when I hit the gas, the engine would jump causing loss of power in acceleration.. Got it fixed, but still was having issues with the transmission shifting.. Turns out when they had the tranny rebuilt they didn't replace the torque converter and reused the original.. Which is what caused the shifting issues.Problem solved when I took it back to the transmission shop.. They replaced it free of charge seeing as there was a two year warranty on it after the sale was made to me.. And I bought the truck at 114k.. Made it just over 150k and the dreaded water pump shit the bed..🙄 Oh boy, There was no way I could tackle a job like that, so I took it to my local Ford dealership.. 1,700 bucks later, new freon, oil changed, coolant changed I have a brandy new water pump.. Holy crap man.. I'm still paying off the loan I had to take out to get it repaired.. And that was 4 almost 5 months ago.. They are a hell of a truck and pretty damn fast, so I'll give em that.. But some of those headaches are nothing short of a pain in the ass..

Roderick Saunders Honestly I don't think so. Just the fact that 2 of the cars are doing the exact same thing at similar mileage about 15k miles. Hi, I own a 2020 Interceptor with a 08/2020 build date. It came without the T wiring connector in place, just like the one in your video. My local Ford dealer ordered me harness # L1MZ-15K868-BAD. In my opinion, the 2020 is superior in power with the 3.3L and overall handling. The past unit had a 3.7L. I gave up on the factory trailer wiring hook up for now. I can jump wires in the body control module to get taillight power, but nothing else at the hitch plug. I bought a CURT trailer wiring set-up, and it is working fine. @steverandall5814 Жыл бұрын
This is appalling! Only 15K on it and you're already dealing with blown seals, blown CV boots, blown flex pipes, etc? It burns how much oil between changes? These units sticker price at ~$50K each (before radios and computers)! As a taxpayer, this is completely unacceptable! Saying "The problem is covered under warranty" is like saying "Don't worry, I sterilized the knife before I stabbed you with it." If a unit needs warranty repair in a large city agency, someone from fleet operations has to document the problem, remove any police equipment likely to be stolen while it's at the dealer, and arrange to get it to the Ford dealer. A "spare" unit (usually a POS the Officers hate) has to be placed into service for the duration of the repair, then someone from fleet operations has to arrange for the unit to be returned. Once returned, all the equipment that was removed has to be reinstalled (and possibly recalibrated) before the unit can be returned to police service. With that much labor and BS just to get Ford to fix the problem, it's probably cheaper and easier for fleet operations to just fix the problem themselves. My guess is that's what Ford is banking on. In the meantime, City Public Works is still waiting for their dump truck to get fixed, but all the mechanics are working on police vehicles that have a higher repair priority. Maybe police agencies shouldn't have given up on the old Crown Vics and put pressure on Ford to keep them in production.
